Gasket for timing chain tensioner??????

Featured Replies

Does anyone know where to get the gasket for the timing chain tensioner? I purchased a complete timing kit, but to my surprise there was not one included. I have search many different Z parts sites but still have not had any luck finding one.

Would using Form-A-Gasket be an acceptable alternative?

Thanks for the quick reply, I was just concerned that it would have an adverse effect since the tensioner was controlled by oil pressure along with the spring.

It seals metal to metal........Nissan recognized this and quit supplying gaskets years ago. Don't use anything. Just bolt it up and torque to spec.

Agreed! No gasket needed. However, I always make sure there are no burrs on the tensioner face. A piece of 400 wet sand paper on a hunk of glass, and work the the contact area lightly. A nice smooth surface will seal up great. And if it does leak a bit?!!! OMG, some oil will get inside your timing cover! Cheers!
