If your voltage regualtor goes out, will the alternator read as if it is not charging?

I think that my voltage reg went out, it has been showing signs for a while now. The alternator is new and suddenly it shows no activity...

Thanks!

Brian

It could possibly read below normal or above normal, it all depends on what happened to the regulator. I'd rather it be low than to be overcharging and possibly blow the battery...:ermm:

Then again, it could be just a wiring problem going to the amp gauge, like a bad ground somewhere.....
