Having a issue with the brake lights and tail lights not turning off

Might be a coincidence but while driving home just before I noticed the problem

I felt something underfoot. Turns out it is some kind of plug like object clear somwhat soft plastic. About a half inch in Dia. and about an inch long. Any body know if what it may be and if it is related to the lights issue

Thanks for any advice

Yes, the plastic button goes in a hole on the brake pedal and contacts the brake light switch. You can get a nut and bolt from the hardware store to replace the plastic plug.

I had a similar problem with a 84 300ZXT and the replacement part was available from Nissan for a couple of dollars.
