Are the water jackets on the Hitachi Flattop carbs needed. I just bought a 73 240Z that needs all the hoses replaced, I was thinking of blocking the water jackets off. Will this hurt anything that anyone can think of?

No, it won't harm anything to bypass the water flow to the carbs. However, they were put there to help warm the manifold.

You may experience a decrease in responsiveness when they are cold.
