1980 datsun pickup long bed

Featured Replies

found a Long bed 1980 datsun pickup carb'd automatic trans. with 115k for $400 I am looking for a small pickup to haul stuff and parts and was wondering is this a good choice for my needs. Seems like an ok deal. The guy just wants to get rid of it and not crush it. I was thinkin about offering a lil less. Are any 1980-1983 720 owners that can vouche for the dependiblity and amount that it can haul? any input would be nice Thanks!

Pros:

Cons:

So I'm assuming the 620 was a good truck?

According to this site it gets 39/48 mpg if this is true with carbs this truck is an excellent deal..

http://www.mpgomatic.com/2007/10/08/super-cheap-high-mpg-cars-1978-1981/

it shows that the Datsun PICKUP 2WD does 39/48

I'm not really familiar with the 720. I just don't like how boxy it is.

You're not going to get 39-48 mpg with it. That site shows a variety of cars and trucks.

it's an old truck, how much will you have to do to it to make sure it's safe to drive. Is it going to do the work you need it for?

yea I was going to check it out tmrw evening hopefully its only 30miles from my house Ill decide then. if it needs work Ill offer $300.

Thanks for the info.

Driveline is bullet-proof.Parts are still available.MPG will be more in the 28-30 range assuming all things are right.

I believe that the 1980 was the only 720 with an L engine which, IMO, makes it better than the 81-83 which has the NapsZ smog motor. The 720 actually was made through 1986. You can't go wrong for that price. Wish I would have found one of those. I would have taken it over the 1990 Ranger I ended up with simply because it's a Datsun.
