Posted October 2, 200222 yr comment_16573 I am trying to remove the brake and clutch lines from the engine bay but can seem to unscrew from the brake slave (at least I think thats what it is). I have tried soaking in liquid wrench but the 10mm wrench wont budge it. Anybody experience the same problems?Mark Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/3182-break-and-clutch-lines/ Share on other sites
October 2, 200222 yr comment_16576 If you are talking about the lines going up into the bottom of the master cylinder, they usually are a pain. Hopefully you are using a 10mm line wrench. If you aren't, you should get one. You can apply a lot more pressure to get it loose without worrying about messing up the line. Anyone who doesn't have a 10mm line wrench should get one, they are indispensible when working on these old, corooded lines, and do save a lot of work by not snapping off those stubborn brake bleeders when you are bleeding the brakes. If soaking and a line wrench don't do the trick. Try tapping the bottom with a small hammer or if worse comes to worse, you could try heating it just a little. Don't heat it too much or you will cook the seals in the master cylinder, unless you are planning on replacing it anyways. In which case, heat it as much as you need. October 2, 200222 yr comment_16594 I have a pair of vice-grip pliers that works wonders on stuck line nuts without buggering them up. It looks like this: Just make sure they are clamped on tight and go slow.
