original tyre sizes

Featured Replies

hi all,

i am looking at replacing my wheels. my tyre placard says just 175 r14, it doesn't have the aspect. what was the original tyre size for a 72 240z? i have a set of 15's to put on but want to get the rubber right.

fyi http://www.toyo.co.uk/converter/converter.html is a great tool for plus-sizing

cheers,

luke

In the US the stock size for '71 is "175 H R-14." I'm not sure if the UK used the same size, or if you guys ever had the crazy system for giving tire size. I have my original spare and it's this size - an "H" is about a 70 or 75 in modern aspect ratio.

Are you sure you want to put the original tire's on there? (skinny little buggers) The car looks SOO much better with some meat holding it on the ground.

I've talk to Michelin and they said that the original tire size for the 240Z was 175 - 80 - 14 which is about a 25" tire. 195 - 70 - 14 or 225 - 60 - 14 would have about the same diameter.
