Speedo cable confusion

Featured Replies

hi, I decided to replace the broken speedo cable in my '71 240 z. Purchased a new cable from blackdragon, but i have 1 problem. The connector for my speedometer-end is different. The old one has a metal threaded end and the new one has a white plastic lock-in type connector. Obviously the plastic connector does not fit. The transmission-end connectors for both cable are the same. Do i have the wrong part? has anyone ever run into this problem? The part number for my cable matches with the one specified in the blackdragon catalogue.I searched the forums but didnt' find any concrete answers.

I hope someone can help!

Thanks

Hmm.. Thats a new one for me, but someone will chime on for sure.

and Welcome to the Club :)

All of mine, including the one on my 64 pickup look like your second picture. The one in the first picture looks like the type found on later cars like Sentras, etc.

I've had three different '71s, two 4 speeds and one automatic. They all had the type in your second picture as well. I probably have one or two used ones available if you need one.
