I've never seen or heard about one of these.

It's supposedly a spare fuse pouch that snapped to the wiring under the dash and was only on the very early cars.

Is this for real?

Hmm.... I've not yet seen anything like that on my red car (the original one), but it's not all that early at 7/71. A quick glance through the parts CD doesn't show it, but that's not conclusive either.

I think if it was a genuine nissan part it would have nissan or datsun on it, not Japan.

My guess is that is a generic accessory that was available in Japan at the time, like steering wheel covers and vanity mirrors that attached to the sun visors, cup holders etc etc (not that they were all available back then - I wouldn't know either way, but you get my point).
