starting up...

Featured Replies

okay i started my 280z using starter fluid and it starts but until we push the gas pedal it dies......and if we start it it again and spray more starter fluid and push the gas...it doesnt die unless we stop spraying starter fuid and pusing the pedal..any help?

At least you know the problem isn't a spark or timing problem.

Fuel and fuel related problems are your starting point.

Have you checked the fuel filter? Fuel pump working? Thats the depth of knowledge I have on FI motors..

fuel pump is working fine and i havent checked the fuel filter...but the car started and idled...but when i gave it gas...it shut off

When I bought my 78, it had that same problem. It turned out to be a clogged up gas tank. Has you car been sitting a long time without being run?

Crank the motor over/let the fuel pump work with the fuel pipe disconnected near the engine to see if the fuel is getting to the engine. If it comes through, its something the FI end, If it is not, it could be as said before, clogged gas tank.
