In photo attached, what is that symbol just to the left of "ISO", before the ground? Any chance there's antenna control involved? (This is a Datsun radio.)

Just a guess, but I think it's a measurement for the mounting screw, specifying a maximum distance of 8 mm? It looks like a diagram showing the hex headed mounting screw on the left, a lock washer and some sort of isolator.

That's exactly what that is. Longer than 8mm, and you'll probably hit something inside the case, and they want to avoid that, obviously.

Looks to me like it would be for light bulb control. (I.E. - like your dash light control knob, so you can turn the light amount up or down) In other words it appears to be a variable resistor...

I agree, looks like the input for the instrument lighting.
