'73 Fuel pump: its cut, where should it go?

Featured Replies

If the mechanical pump is acting up , watch it closely . Depinding how it fails , it can pump gas into the crankcase , or it can cause a major oil leak . One the local Z drivers lost the engine because of a faulty mechanical pump. His oil sending unit was acting up also and the loss of oil pressure , he thought was due to that . He almost sezed the engine . He had to replace the engine anyway . Gary

Well that just sucks. This sounds like a very poor design to me. Guess that's one thing that's gonna have to come off now. That new elec fuel pump is sounding better and better all the time.

I would probably say "yes". And there are nice block-off plates available to cover that spot too :-)
