I wanted to find out what Z cars have the gear reduction starters in them?

Not sure if this is what your looking for but the 81 that donated many parts to my 73 had a gear reduction starter. My 73 was not original so I don't know.

If I remember correctly the autos (or some of them) had more powerful starters.....or I could just be making this all up. :-0

the ZX(79-83) all use a gear reduction starter, smaller. lighter, lower current draw, and bolts right up to All of the L series engines!

Not sure about 78, but all of the s30 series I have ever had(never had a '78) used a standard starter.
