Posted September 7, 200420 yr comment_94220 I just purchased bumper guards for my front bumper. Mine were missing when I purchased the car. My question is when installing these should there be any kind of padding between the guard & bumper? September 7, 200420 yr comment_94229 I don't think there is anything that is supposed to go in between the two. But, if you don't then eventually the guards will scratch the bumper leaving marks. I have seen where someone has taken some 1/4" clear tubing and cut it down the center (lengthwise). Then you put the tube over the edge of the guard. Now you have the tube between the guard and the bumper to prevent scratches. September 8, 200420 yr Author comment_94305 Thanks for the info. Another thing that came up is that the "new" bumper guards don't seem to have all the holes in them to put on the rubber strips. There are indentations where the holes should be but it looks like they were never punched or drilled out during manufacturing. I purchased these from MSA and they came in the Nissan box. They fit the bumper perfect. Is it normal to have to drill these out to fit the rubber strips?Greg Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/13162-bumper-guards/#findComment-94305 Share on other sites
