Help on installing a deck in a '79 280zx

Featured Replies

I checked the forums but couldn't find one that would help desribe how to install a cd reciever.

I'm just curious how any of you guys did it. I've seen pictures and people claim that they did the work themselves.

Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks.

p.s. I have a typical cd reciever... if that helps.

I installed one on a 77 280.

it was simple.

1. take apart the console.

2. cut hole in console (super easy in my case it was already there just had to cut out the excess from around where the old tape deck was)

3. Find out what wires you need (power, ground, accessory...)

4. find the wires in the harness

and away you go!

I guess it does seem to be that easy. I can only hope that it will be. I'll ask another question when the time comes. Thanks for replying.

Also, how difficult was wiring your system? Did you have to take the car apart at all (lift carpet and such)? Sorry, but when it comes to wiring and cars in general... I'm dumbass.

You dont generally have to lift the carpet, just make sure you hide the wires well. I do lift the carpet though so the wires are super hidden. Its not that hard at all.
