Wow, thanks for that information Chino.

I was only told that it was a fairly small town which had recently become 'trendy' due to snowboarders and the like.

Looking forward to seeing Japan from a local's point of view. The last time I went, I stayed in Shinjuku briefly and spent half my time figuring out how to get from place to place.
