Cheapskate Paint Job
I was thinking the same thin but needed to hear what others thought. I guess I will have to find someone that is more resonable on price.

Cheapskate Paint Job
Does it add $5000 to the bottomline asking price of the car or am just wasting money?

Cheapskate Paint Job
I agree; I had a conversation with my painter last Thursday. He said materials alone will be $800, then 40 hours in prep at his cheap $35 per hour rate, $1000 to tape out and shoot the the car, then another $400 to shoot the clear and another 40 hours to buff out. There it is $4600 to paint a completely empty shell of a car. Then I will have to pay someone to put in the front windshield and rear window. Add it all up and it is well over $5K. Now I ask you; Does this make the car worth $5K more? The car is a 71 with a ton of new parts, new cad, 920 paint code with a black interior.

Anyone know a supplier of these flares in Japan?
We comissioned a set of molds to be made for this "Works" kit. The guy who has the molds is an long time replica car manufacturer. Hit me up if you are serious about getting a kit, it includes 4 fender flares and a 3 piece tail spoiler.

Brake restoration, thanks conedodger
Can you send in a set of cores to be "restored" and pay just $279? I like the way they look and I really like what I am reading. For those who are doing factory original cars would he do them in a factory color?

Headlight covers with chrome trim.....
Where to find one brand new in the bag? Would you know Carl? How much did those covers sell for? Someone here would have paid more.

Crazy steering shimmy
Rack bushing and steering coupler bushing would fix the things you feel on the wheel. Both are simple and easy installs. Ball joints are a simple test but I don't think they are your problem. T/C bushing? Maybe another easy fix. Shocks? maybe another easy fix, thank you Tokico. Remember this about cars: "They are only original once" original cars with low mileage like that are not easy to find and work keeping as original as possible. Also if you modify keep the parts you take off for later reinstall if necessary. What carbs are you running? Beautiful original colored car. Don't forget to get it on the Z Registry.

That car looked pretty solid coming in. One wonders why it would not be sold whole.

What are you on the look out for?
New fenders are still available from Nissan, I picked up one last year at MSA garage sale for $25 because it was bend on the tip that goes near the cowl. Headlight cases on the other hand usually can be found.

Newbie with question
I would not waste my time and money on Ebay with this car. I would Craigslist it, then have the Craigslist add picked up by Bringatrailer.com. That will give you all the exposure you need. Ebay will take too much of the profit. Also make sure to bring it by the Z Club of San Diego meeting on the 2nd of April at Denny's Resturant on Clairmount Mesa BLVD. Come early around 6PM there will be some guys there that just might be interested in serparating you from that fine car. Also Automatics can be desirable because they usually are not raced or beat. I know certain buyers of quality survivors like this car always take out the automatics but I would not. Email me at Montezuma50@gmail.com if you need more directions for times and places of the Z Club Meeting.

Blue Air Cleaner
The blue air cleaner boxes were sold by the dealerships. I was at a parts hoard a few months ago and there were 2 of them still in the dealership bags, brand new. I have also heard that they came on the replacement motors that were shipped from Japan.

Has anyone ever used waterless coolant?
I saw an episode of "Wheeler Dealers" where Edd China used it in a TR6 that Edd and Mike were fixing up. He looked interesting and was thinking of putting it in the Z.
