Building a 240Z!
I have a strong L24 that I am removing from a 71 that is for sale, the good news is that I am here in San Diego, the better news is that if you pull it yourself you get a discount. If you want to talk about it you can meet me tonight at the Z club of San Diego meeting. Monthly meetings are held the first Tuesday of the month, starting at 7:00pm at DENNY’S Restaurant. Located at 4280 CLAIRMONT MESA BLVD SAN DIEGO,CA 92117. That’s in the Clairmont Square. There is Z racer in our club as well, he loves to talk about racing his Z.

aftermarket seat belt from MSA for 70-73
I got the Wesco belts in my 73 and I love them. They work perfectly, great quality, fast shipping and great customer service. I showed them to Sal when he was still at MSA, he liked them too. I would like to think I started the ball rolling on MSA's new belts. I would highly recommend Wesco regardless.

I am looking for 240Z owners in the Stockton CA area looking to reduce noise and heat in your interior. I have a contact in Stockton who makes prefab kits for all types of cars. He wants to do a S30 kit and needs prototype cars to put the kit in for 50% off the regular intsalled price. This is a great bargin. Please PM me with pictures of the car you want the work done to and I will get you in touch with the company. This a great opportunity....for once I wish I lived in Stockton. The price and weight gain to the car are forthcoming in the next few hours. This kit will be custom made for your car, you will have the prototypes.

Loop pile carpet, any recent purchases? (2008)
I checked out Les' kit at Classic Datsun while I was there on Monday...he sells the modern cut pile, which I must say was a really nice kit. I too perfer the more original loop style. I asked about it but he said he used the cut pile in the cars he did for Nissan several years ago so he only sells that. The thing I noticed on his kit was there was no slots for on the or snaps on them. I had one of those cheaper loop kits in the car before without the slots and snaps the floor mat moved all the time...it sucked. I found a set of almost worn out original type with the snaps and slots....much better now.

5 speed tranny help
Shop rate is between $65 and $85 an hour. So take the higher number $85 x 8 Hours and that would be your labor rate alone. I think 8 hours is a conservative number so it could be more. For $700 for labor alone, I would happily continue to drive my automatic, shifting is overrated(joke, only kidding).

Butterscotch seat question
You might try Les at Classic Datsun. When I was at his shop on Monday we were talking about Butterscotch interior parts. He is thinking about make a batch of Butterscotch interior panels for 73 and below cars, based on demand, because he knows that there are not easy to come by, which would also lead him to getting the seat covers. It could be a good place to try. www.classicdatsun.com

L28/E31 with webbers, or N42 0r N46????
There is this guy in San Diego who swears by Maxima N47 heads, he said it was because of a peanut shaped chamber. I told him I never heard that before and that the Maxima N47 never comes up on the message boards I read. He said he get huge hp gains with it. He claims that the Z N47 head and the Maxima N47 head are different. I don't know either way....thought it was interesting. What do you guys think? I have no plans to got out the local "Pick UR Part" scooping them up anytime soon.

Just Ordered My New Wheels!
I was just over at Classic Datsun yesterday to pick up some stuff. While I was there I asked Les to show me the off white interior plastic for a 240Z, the color was perfect, really nice product, dealing with Les is great. A couple of weeks ago I got the new Diamond material for my interior; a really hight quality item as well. I agree with you on dealing with Les and Classic Datsun always a great experience.

1971 JDM style 240Z stroker project
Our car started out as a pretty nice so-cal rust free example. The plan for the car is to strip it down, gut it out and prep it for Works style Carbon Fiber over fenders, G-nose, race style interior, 3.1 stroker motor, coil overs, Mikuni 44s, custom JDM header and exhaust, brand new euro tail lights with Carbon Fiber surround, 16" Panasports, plus tons of JDM parts collected over the last 20 years by the car's owner. I am the project manager, assembler, parts collector and storage. The owner is a marketing guy for Nissan USA. When completed this car will look like something out of a Nostaligic Hero Magazine. Yesterday the I dropped two N42 blocks and two ND cranks. The best of the two block will be bored out to accept Kameari 89mm pistons. The cranks will be checked to make sure they are good then one will be mirco polished. I have a very good engine builder who will assemble the block. The car is out having the Cabon Fiber Works style over fenders being custom made to fit. The contractor is going to make the over fenders, cut the body to fit and intall the brass incerts. Should be awesome when done.

Fairlady headlight covers
That is what my friend tells me as well....he should be back on the 3rd of January or something like that.

Would it work
As for that Cartech system that Fred posted in the original post, I have a friend who has the entire working system with tech manual for sale. He had it on his 71Z but when he gave it to his son he removed it. When it was on the Z it worked great, not sure how much boost he ran but his son always said it was not enough.

SU Carb Choke Hardware Needed
The ebay seller Red-dat also sells them, if I remember correctly. I know he over charges for shipping, but does have "hard to find" parts.

What does your Z want for the Holidays?
For me to stop being mad it....I have not driven it since mid September when it was broken into and the stereo riped out thus causing damage to my backlite heater bezel. I know the break in was not the car's fault but the creeps ruined the driver's door lock area. I guess I should get her fixed up and drive her again as a Christmas gift to the car.

Fairlady headlight covers
I got two sets NIB (Nissan Boxes) in my garage. I will take a look tonight and see if are markings on them that distinghish them from others.

ok Guys what do you think
Most of your answers rest on whether or not there are any rust problems on the frame rails, battery area, floor boards. etc.... It looks okay in the pics, but the pictures don't address the rust question.
