1978 Carpet Kit - who's got the best one?
I hate the molded kit, the kit from Eiji is exactly like the original. It was so easy to install and everything fit perfectly.

Can I swap strut mount insulators?
sure they would lower it more. The ride would be real rough.

1978 Carpet Kit - who's got the best one?
I got a kit from Datsun Spirit that was just awesome, by far the best. It went in exactly like the original. The fit and quality was there. Eiji at Datsun Spirit was great. The kit comes from Japan so it takes some time to get but is worth the wait. We did the intall on a 1978.

CA Blue License Plate Restore
I tend to agree with SteveJ, especially if you are using the car as a classic and not a daily. Most cops would give you a pass as long as your intention was to keep the car original.

Dem, You came to the right place. You will get lots of great helpful tips here. Hope you find a good car soon.

Tire brands for 205/60R14 options
Ok this is a no brainer from my point of view. Kumho from Discount Tire. Want a good deal see the Manager Mike at the Palm Ave Store he always hooks me up. Th Kumhos are great tires for the money. If you like Yokos he could hook you with them too. They will beat all advertised prices.

Motorsport Auto's 2010 West Coast Nationals
Okay, a class move by a class guy, Thank you Greg for taking the time out of you busy schedule to write such an informative post. I for one will be up there early for the garage sale. You got a great staff especially Abraham. We look forward to 2011 then too. What about the Raffle? Love the Raffle, I win something cool every year.

Z show in Allentown, PA
That is awesome....Rothrock is still there? I grew up in Coopersburg but left when I joined the Navy in 1983. My 73Z is from Springtown PA. Hope there is a good turnout. Most likely there will be more 350Zs than S30s.

Motorsport Auto's 2010 West Coast Nationals
Oh well garage sale and go will be my day. I don't really care for a BBQ or any of that stuff. Maybe next year. JCCS will now be the place to be, especially since it is back at the Queen Mary.

240z Vintage Race Car for Sale
That car is super cool. I got a friend in Phoenix who should go check it out.

rust free chassis, primed/prepped body, just add paint
I got the drive train parts right here in San Diego. I think I can let all go for about $1K. It is a complete car that my friend owns that he wants to sell. A project that has not gotten off the ground. The car is at the Hobbyshop at MCRD. I got a 2400 and 2800 motor that can go with it. The 2800 has 5sp tranny and is a fuel injected motor with all the parts on it. The 2400 has fresh E88 head on it and some other new stuff. Still waiting for my friends approval to sell it.

Motorsport Auto's 2010 West Coast Nationals
One of the places I recommended above was the park where they have JCCS over by the waterpark. On this 40th anniversary of the Z car for Motorsport Auto not hold a big event is so sad.

Support your local tire shop... it pays off
Back to the message of the thread, I agree kenobi on this one. I have a great realionship with the Manager of my local Discount Tire. Mike always gives me the best deal and uncompromised customer service. He knows my cars and he knows what I want in a tire when I arrive. Just today I got new shoes for my daughter's Sentra SE/R, he knew I wanted Yokohama's and that I am not a fan of the new S-drives that replaced the ES100. Why discontinue the ES100s?...I will never know but that is getting off subject. I knew right away to move to Bridgestone Potenzas which have a real nice tread and sidewall disign. $714 later which is only $20 than I paid for the ES100s 33,000 miles ago or 2 years ago. Not a bad day. The local Tire Guy is your friend.

Motorsport Auto's 2010 West Coast Nationals
I guess my next question is would you pay to display your car like people do a most car shows? Maybe like $10 per car? How much is JCCS to display? I always gladly pay $10 to get into JCCS and never complain. The free event was awesome when done on the streets of Orange but in the park it should have some sort of fees. There are a few car shows/car events I go to every year: Grand National Roadster Show in Pomona, Good Guys at Del Mar, West Coast Nationals and JCCS. I also do like the events at the Datsun Heritage Meusem as well. Tell me what you guys think.

Motorsport Auto's 2010 West Coast Nationals
Rich isn t it kinda of sad that very few people are talking about this. Greg Smith always said that it was a customer appreciation event, what he no longer appreciates the customers or have hardtimes come to MSA? I hope they just do again on the street in front of the store like they used to. That event most likely cost very little. What happens to the Autocross? I know guys in the club loved that event. So many questions. I am surprised that this is the first post on this board about it. They said there was a scheduling conflict at the park they use, well then maybe they could have tried the park the JCCS uses. I think there is a lot more going on.

Motorsport Auto's 2010 West Coast Nationals
I heard at the other night that MSA plans to have a scaled back event this year. I just checked out their webpage and found no news what so ever on this year's event. I guess lean times have hit our friends at MSA as well. Anyone got any information? I have been to many events over the years and have seen this show grow in leaps and bounds. Participation has been great so I don't think it is scaled back for that reason. Any news would be great.

'72 Datsun 240z 'shell' to purchase or not...HELP!?
Rich beat me to it...I was not worried about him because he told me he had no room for another....my plan was to buy it for $900, fix it up a bit and flip it....but ol Rich beat me to it. The Recaros would have been icing on the cake for me. I have a 71 I got for $400 that is 100% better than that beast. I drove it home. It is now being fixed up and will be for sale soon.

San Diego Z car club?
Have you recently moved to San Diego? The meeting are the first Tuesday of the month at Denny's in Clairmont Square Mall on Clairmont Mesa BLVD. The time is 7PM. The meeting have gone down in attendance recently, not sure what is going on but there are still some great guys and girls in the club. I think we have gone a little dry lately....no offense to anyone, just the facts.
