another OEM source
I just bought a rear hatch louver set for my 210 from http://www.oldcarandtruckparts.com/ Some of the parts listed could be Z parts - they don't have the app info for all on the list. I thought the attached wheel looked nice. I think he's got a full set. Anyway, charlie was great to deal with and gave me a great price on my part. Michael

510 "Sky Blue" 280Z's
Anyone have a paint code 510 Blue 280Z? I think it was '77-'78 only. I picked this up on zcar.com and would like to see if there are any out there who can confirm. I'd like to add it to my paint codes gallery. Thanks for the help: Michael

Need help parting out a '72 240Z in Dallas, TX
I don't really know more than what I posted in the previous thread, except that it was still there last Saturday. Either no one bid on it or they didn't have the auction yet. Look up the Dallas Can! Acadamy on Yahoo Yellow Pages (near 75206 zip code) or somethign like that and ask them how to purchase one of their salvage cars. Probably if you offer something like $100 they'll take it if it didn't get any bids at auction. I'll send you a PM about the pics. Michael

Need help parting out a '72 240Z in Dallas, TX
Hey zed2, I'm in Dallas. Let me know if i can be of any help though I don't have a place for you to put it. I've disassembled a couple of Z's (just don't ask me to put one together.....) I'd talk him down to a couple hundred or so. You could probably pick up this one for $100 or so '73 in dallas I went by last Saturday and it was still there. It doesn't even have too much rust. What exactly do you want to do with the car anyway? Do you just need some spare parts but don't have a place to put the whole car? Michael

Chat room????
The original Java chat room was the best one. The others since then either didn't work right or required yet another login name/password (and still didn't work right).

MSA Control arm bushings
This may be obvious to everyone but me but be sure to insert both poly bushings before trying to insert the inner sleeve. Otherwise you'll get air between the bushing and you won't be able to push them in all the way. Duh michael

classic cars magazine article
Anyone see the new issue of Classic Cars (www.classiccarsmagazine.co.uk)? I only got to look for a couple of minutes at the bookstore. The 240Z is up against a few other cars but I dont' know exactly what the contest was. Whatever it was the Z won. I did notice that Goertz was credited for giving the Z its sex appeal... ANyway if anyone has more info on what it was about please post it here. I wont' be back to the bookstore for awhile and anyway I'm not dishing out $9 for a magazine. michael

U-Joint removal
Hey chickenwafer, Something to be careful about when putting it back together is to make sure the rod shaped bearings don't fall out of place and get smashed. The u-joint is basically a cross with a cap on each end lined with bearings that are held in place with grease. When I was putting mine back together a few of the bearings got knocked out of place and crushed when I continued pressing in the joint. I had to replace the ujoint. But in the end it wasn't very difficult. If you have the right parts for pressing it's fairly easy. Oh and if you're considering changing the boots on the half-shafts at the same time you might wan't to reconsider. That was a VERY difficult operation as you have to take the whole half-shaft apart. The cir-clips are killers and the half-shaft is full of little pieces that are easy to drop or put in wrong. It took me and 2 other guys at a professional drive-shaft shop about 2 hours to do it right. Michael

Any Texas Z Club members on here?
www.zcluboftexas.org = Z Club of Texas = name of the group. No it's not mostly older Z's. Membership wise it could be heavy on the early Z side but representation at the meetings I went to was more toward newer Z's (ZX's). Don't get me wrong I agree there are some nice people there - I just didn't really fit in with that crowd. They meet once a month by the way, somewhere in Plano since the place in Richardson shut down. Go to the website for meeting info.

carb insulators
Thanks for the help guys. I did do a search and didn't find what I was looking for. The reason I'm building a set is to adapt my Z carbs to a manifold for my 210. It needs a 46mm to 38mm conical hole so there's not an abrupt step between the carb and the manifold. I'll check out that plastic and also check the properties of Delrin to see which would be best. michael

carb insulators
Anyone know what material the Hitachi SU insulators that go between the carb and intake are made of? What is the primary purpose of those things anyway? Just a spacer or is there some sort of vibration isolation involved? Also I need to make a custom set of those. What material should I use to make new ones that most machine shops should be able to work with? Would Delrin work - or aluminum? Thanks for the help michael

Any Texas Z Club members on here?
http://www.zcluboftexas.org/ I joined a while back but the club's not really my style. I went to a couple of meetings and they're really boring and geared way too much toward the newer Z's. They've all got hard-ons for the 350Z which really got on my nerves. Besides that I don't really know of anything for Zs. Michael
