  1. Chuck the domes in the freezer overnight. The contraction and subsequent expansion may break them free.
  2. Coke tastes much better when there's Bourbon in it. You are old when you remember when vinyl played at 78 and had the larger centre hole.

I too "ummed and arghed" about what colour to paint my car. The pull to keeping it period is great but equally the colour you like is also hard to get away from. I also looked at many of the later model Nissan colours before looking at other manufacturers colour codes. I finally ended up painting in a 1970 period Porsche colour that I like, guards red. If you have a low VIN car in concourse condition that you want to sell at a later stage, then stick a stock colour if you want to realise the most for it. Otherwise IMO, paint what you want. Be warned though, painting old cars modern colours sometimes results in expensive re-sprays.

Only the bumpers are chrome. Everything else is stainless steel. You'd need to key it (roughen it up) to paint to stick. Best best would be to get it powder coated if you want it to last.

  8. I sent a spare set to a plastic chromers who stripped them down but couldn't plate them. They will now be painted blank when the tail light panels get sprayed.

Thanks for the close up of the firewall showing the trottle linkage and more importantly the choke cable boot. It looks the same as the throttle boot. Might have to use the same boot on mine as I've moved to triple 44's. Great pics as always Kats, keep them coming. Does anyone know why the fresh air ducts are configured for the lower of the two radiator support bracket holes? Those repo ducts look great.

Kats, A question on the firewall insulator. Does the 432 have a different pattern to the HS30? Is that a new insulator? Couldn't take some measurements of it and PM it to me could you?
  11. Some people have all the luck. $200..... I think you should be sleeping very well.
  12. My zed would just like me to spend some time working on it. In fact, a lot of overdue time.
  13. Biggest performance gains are all down to head work. But you really should be thinking about modifications as an on going thing. You'll get very little increase in power by just putting a set of extractors on it. To get the best out of them you really need to look at the carbs, ignition, cam and head work upgrades together. They are all related one way or another. Careful and educated planning is the key. Read up all the tech articles you can and build a picture of what you are after rather than fitting parts in a piecemeal fashion. One of the easiest mods to is change your diff to a 3.9 or 4.11. Just remember that that alone will increase acceleration but decrease top speed. Trade off's are everywhere.

IMO they look huge and detract from the look of the car. Out of proportion you could say. Maybe drop the ride height by a inch or two could make a difference but for me, all I see in that pic is wheels.
  15. Check ouit this thread. http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/showthread.php?threadid=28153 You'll see that the choke cable has been extended somewhat. Looks like it would work fine.
  16. HS30-H (Alan T) has a black version on his ZG if I'm not mistaken. Wonder if the one for sale has been resprayed or is there a difference between the colours. It's going to a lot more than $10USD.
  17. Body colour on my 70 and 73.

Mike, Parts car has no provision for the same thermo switch in top portion of the thermostat housing. However, the bottom housing has the temp sender and a threaded bung. Not sure if that was ever intended to have anything in it and there is no way of telling if someone had replaced the whole assembly when the L28 was installed. There are just too many modifications to the car to ever assume that anything is stock.
