Most likely the math works this way: Free + Rust = parts car... Major rust issues on Z's include floors, rockers, doglegs, cowl, battery tray and frame rails. If you have 2 of them gone, most likely they are all mostly gone. The engine, if done well, may be good (pretty typical enhancements). Can't beat the price, but if you're looking to get something on the road, you might be better off to start by finding a good body for cheap (increasingly hard) and do the mechanical work (driveline parts are very cheap and abundant). If you do take it, make sure they won't want to kill you if you part it out.
  7. This might help. Don't think it will give you the rear end though...

I tell Tony D to burn in hell but that was taken car of last week... Ok, that's pushing the line a little, I hope no one got hurt and all Z's are safe and accounted for... That being said, I had the old Z this out morning to get a coffee from Tim Horton's (something you don't have access to in So Cal...so hah!). Cheers,

Sweet, sweet ride...equally stunning on the driveway and the track...must be a blast to bomb around in...

Let's see...vehicles that was witnessed/suffered me in the act... 1973 Dodge Sportsman full size van (learned to drive in that one) 1971 Pinto Wagon (the year was 1987, just turned 16, not exactly the coolest car at high school, but hey it was a ride) 1979 Mustang Hatchback (later in high school, much cooler...reat seats folded down, hatch up) 2001 Ford Expedition I think I just might be too big for a Z (6'2", 250 lbs). Might just buy an old Datsun pickup to qualify for the club...

Man, sorry to hear that... Alternate thought...(assuming you can get the structural integrity good enough for the following...)...save the money from a paint job, fix the mechanical side cheap but well...have some fun building a auto-cross/track vehicle...bigger cam...bigger carbs...bigger brakes...maybe find an L28 to rebuild... She won't have to be pretty...just tough...part-out or keep the interior for your red one... Neat project! Just a thought...
  13. Horns look really neat. How hot were you running? Dropping operating temps below optimal will hamper performance...
  14. Yep. That's my motivation for collecting Z's...fix the trade imbalance...now if we can just figure out how to get a Z to solve world peace...
  15. Yeah, had a wierd week that way...out looking at the new property we are moving to outside Montreal last Wednesday and on the highway returning into the city got passed by a red 260Z (I was in my Sequoia unfortunately). He was flying. I chased and caught up to get a better look at the car. He had a 280Z hood and judging by his ability to accelerate, he was running flat tops. Next morning I get to the office and one of my employees is all excited. She was out with her 9 & 12 year old boys (both car nuts) and saw a yellow z-car on a flatbed pulling into her neighbourhood. Stated it had a black stripe running down the center (maybe a Zap?). Not often you see them around in November in Canada.
  16. Most will if you contact them. I'm sure Sailor did before he bid $8k...

Great news Tony! Post photos asap. Hopefully it's ok. Anyone think he might have got Overhauled? How cool would that be...

Turns out we were wrong all along...flat top SU's were an engineering and design marvel...just look at them...so...flat...and...more flat... Clearly the 260Z is worth a mint based on that alone...

Arrrghhh...I'm staying in a hotel without Speed....someone post quick!
  23. Hmm...maybe the theives will rebuild the engine and then he can recover the vehicle...if so, awfully thoughtful of them...
  24. Pricing on that one is because it is a Series I 240Z. The ad itself has expired, so I'm not sure if its a '70 or '71...('70 is more valuable). I think that the light is playing tricks with the photo. The photo from the top of the hood looks fine and if one side beat up, the other side should be too. Of that one and the one in New Mexico, the silver seems like a much better deal to me... Or Asta's. Not sure how complete the work is, but it look like you could eat off the floors (a very good way to start with a Z).
