Assume a typo and the engine is from a '75 not a '95. Do a search on reviving an engine. Some very good threads out there (better advice than I can provide). Start with checking compression for sure though... FYI. The "proper" set-up for a '75 engine is fuel injection. If you looking into carbs, tons of options (again, do a search). Really depends on what type of performance you are looking for / how you want to build the engine. If you are looking at SU's, check out ZTherapy (they are on here very regularly and everyone seems very happy with their work). Cheers and good luck.

By "right" I meant correct...my bad. I'm wondering if you have a strut that is slight too long and the hatch isn't seating properly...otherwise...warped hatch... If I recall correctly when I was playing with my hatch, there is a (minimal) adjustment possible. One other thought, any uneven rubber seals?

Do you have the right hatch strut in place? I have a hard time imagining the pressure of the strut warping the hatch. You probably have a bent hatch or the hinges aren't adjusted properly.

Pretty tough to get a stolen vin across the border. Need title for export and they tend to at least give it a cursory check. If the vehicle was stolen, you're more likely to see a vin swap with a written off vehicle... Slip, I went through a couple of VIN challenges registering in Ontario as the Michigan title that came with the car had an extra 0 where the space is in the VIN. Drop me a pm and I can walk you through a few options on registration.

A bunch of resources you can use... 1) Keep an eye on the classifieds here... 2) Keep an eye on the classifieds on zcar.com... 3) Ontariozcar.com has classifieds... 4) Check out the ebay seller smokin-geez . He is just outside Montreal and has a bunch of Z's pulled apart (contact him directly as he has much more than is listed on Ebay)... 5) If in the GTA, get in touch with Greg or Mike at Whitehead performance. They specialize in Z's and have knowledge of things that are "out there". Might even be a tank in their racks... DO A SEARCH ON THIS SITE FOR THREADS ON TANKS!!! They are not as interchangeable as most parts on the early Z's... Good luck and good hunting!

Welcome aboard! All Z's are welcome (I have a Z31 too..). That being said, this site focusses somewhat more of S30 (70-78's). There are a few other sites that have more Z31 (84-89) content. These include: www.z31.com (obviously dedicated to Z31) www.az-zbum.com (some very, very good walkthroughs on common repairs) www.xenonz31.com (relatively new, but pulling together some good content) www.zcar.com (covers all versoions of Z's, a ridiculous # of posts, some good, some less so...) Yeah, welcome aboard! Use the search function liberally to find out almost anything you need to know. If you can't find it with search, ask and you'll be amazed at how quick the answers show up. Treat her well. I'm not sure a Z would have been a good idea for me as a first car. I trashed a few (mechanically more that crack-ups) and it would have been a shame to waste a Z...hope you show more sense than I had :-)
