Cheap for the Tranny, considering that the engine is 10X more

Toni Welcome. This is the place to be for all your Z questions. First off, I suggest you start by searching the forum for your specific problem. Then, if youocan't find anything, try posting your problems in the proper forum so that the others can help. Sounds like you have a really nice car and I agree with the others - make it road-worthy first and then think about the mods. My car has seen that already. Looks good from the outside, but needed a lot of work to make it safe - clutch, brakes, shocks, etc. WELCOME! ! ! !
  3. Lachlan, I really don't know other that what I've read . . . . and that is once the merger took place, Nissan was the name and Prince ceased to exist in Japan. The Prince motorheads were still there, designing cars, the Prince division of Nissan was still there, and Prince designation on chassis numbers was still there (PGC10, KPGC10, PGC110, KPGC110) but the Prince name on the cars was kaput. No offense taken, just repeating what I've read.

Adding NOS 115 to the list for Jim.

Spot on 440K. I have 15 inch Watanabes on mine and they're just right. They fit nicely in the wheel wells (rolled lips on the rear) and don't ruin the lines of the car. Anything bigger and I have to start cutting (ouch!).
  6. Continuing the hijacking of this thread . . . . I find this very enlightening. I'm now learning more about the history of the cars we all love. Interesting how the cars were marketed as a Prince, Nissan and Datsun down there. In Japan, once Prince was absorbed by Nissan, the Prince name ceased to exist. In the USA, they were Datsuns until 1983, when Nissan decided to go worldwide with only one name: Nissan.
  7. 440K - It might be wise to educate the godzilla heads out there about the C10 being the original GT-R. That way, they leave you alone and go hunting for the C10s instead of scooping up all the 240Ks. Best to protect your interests, especially with part becoming harder to get.
  8. Yes, this has been discussed before. Alan???

Okay. Geibun Mooks 471 S20 Fairlady Special - 2 Copies (jmark & Pimp1911); NOS 114 - 1 copy (jmark). Anybody else? I'm putting in the order Friday (Thrussday for those on the other side of the International Dateline).

NOS 114 is gone. Off the shelves because NOS 115 is out. It can be had through backorder. jmark, you still interested in NOS 114?
  11. Carl attributes the write-up to Mike. I recall reading that write-up here some time ago. I agree with everyone here - nice set up and the custom air cleaner box makes all the difference. I highly recommend Steve. They correctly identified my 38mm JDM carbs and refurbished them to as-new condition.

They pop up from time to time. 3,000,000 - 5,000,000 the usual price. They usually don't sell because they're only one piece of the puzzle. Need the transmission. But hey, this one is "No Claim, No Reserve"

He's got a perfectly defendable reason (excuse) for pulling the auction. "The seller ended this listing early because of an error in the minimum bid or reserve amount." Well, I hope he enjoys the car, because I don't think there will be any more interest from the folks here.

$12,000 Buy it now. No sale. Now what?
  15. I usually use Final Wash from NAPA. I think the DuPont product is called Klix. There was one called Prep-solv too, I think.

Even though Bruce says he's a nice guy, I'd rather trust Jim, Bruce or Kent (or the lot of them) to ship rather than the seller. And don't forget the other parts, Brian.
  17. I know somebody that has one!!!! Want me to ask if he'll sell????
  18. sakijo posted a post in a topic in 240K Skyline
I am still concerned about the bidding on this car. All the bidders seem to be non-car people. The high bidder now has a 50% ratio of good-bad. Brian, if you want it, I'd offer up $4000 AU$ and ask one of the guys here to help you out.

    Oh Alan, how true! Even I have been told that . . . . and I'm Japanese . . . Japanese-American, that is . . . . Ha Ha Ha. . . . .

Jim, Is that $45 per magazine or $45 per year? The publisher will let you subscribe, but only takes credit card payment from overseas customers.

NH 107 is sold out from publisher. Best bet now is re-sellers or auction. Geibun Mooks 471 S30 Fairlady Special stil available for 2,000 yen. Anyone interested? I'll try to order for anyone who wants. I'll leave it open until Wed 3 May. First come, first served. I don't know how many they have available. Post here or PM me. Thanks Eric!
  22. The 240K or Skyline was not released into the American market because of "cannibalism." The car would have detracted and taken sales away from the "established" brands - 240Z, 510, etc. It's a well-known fact that as you saturate the market, you sell the same amount of cars, but the mix is different. Skyline would have taken away market share from both the Z and the 510 - something Nissan would not accept. All the Japanese car makers follow this line of thinking. Like Craig said, sorry to hijack this thread. maybe we should start a new one fo rthis subject . . . .

Nostalgic Hero 115 is out. It features Prince cars. Can't upload the scan, it's too big. Their website may have it.
  24. I doubt it. Japanese always say "America" or sometimes "beikoku." When referring to people, it's always "Nihonjin" (Japanese) and "gaijin" (foreigner). When referring to something made in America, they usually say "America-sei" (made in America). In the case of US Military, they usually use "heitai" (soldier), GI, or "gunjin" (person from the Base). The closest thing is an old word (no longer used) "meriken-ko" which referrs to American style wheat flour.

Are they shipping it to Japan and trying to sell it? Or do they have a buyer in Japan? The car's not going to be worth all that much here except maybe for novelty or museum. That type of car here, C110, is currently going anywhere from 300,000 to 1,600,000. The 300,000 car is advertised as a PC110 4-door with 48,000km bone stock. The 1,600,000 car is a modified GTX with all the GT-R trimmings. That being said, a 240K GL automatic coupe probably won't bring much in Japan. Just for the shipping, customs duty, and Japanese conformance makes it unfeasible.
