  2. Steve, When I received the car it had a rotational clunking in reverse and did not want to stay in reverse. Les thought it was related to the shift lever that he had installed and that seemed logical to me. I went on a quest for a new shift lever and came up with what should be a correct "B" box shift lever from a 72 parts car. I installed new shift bushings and installed the shift lever with no change in the problem. The clunking speeds up with the speed of the vehicle, you can feel it through the shift lever and you do not feel it in the drive shaft. It sounds somewhat like a bad universal joint but seems to be in the transmission. Thoughts? PS I posted another thread on this. Thanks Jerry Purcell
  3. I have printed and gone over the supplemental manual and it will help me out. It does have explanation of the additional in line fused wire etc... not covered in the original service manual. Thanks JLP
  4. I appreciate your kind offer. The restoration of my car is beautiful but I am at wits end with the little problems that I did not expect. The rebuilt drive train has an issue and the proposed fix did not fix it today. I began to look into the electrical issues today and found the factory service manual electrical diagram wanting at best. Those are the major issues leaving a number or lesser problems. My hope was to get all the issues repaired prior to putting the car away for winter but I do not believe that will happen at this point. I have owned this car since new and have striped multiple Z cars. I have three complete wiring harnesses along with lots of other spare parts. I will check out the supplement you suggested and see if it helps. I believe that I am gong to have to pull the dash at this point, I hope it does not come to that. I will definitely use you as a sounding board and if you need I will try to help you if I can. Jerry Purcell
  5. I have about 4 original sets of factory service manuals. The wiring diagram in those are very incomplete.
  6. Carl, I currently have two. Both have the wrong mast. I took the second one (from parts car) apart, the motor runs and the gears look good, but the nylon was stuck in a bunch of corrosion. I would consider that a good motor unit. The one that is on my car runs but does not work, and the mast is not correct. So at the least I need a good pointed tip mast. Thanks for your interest in helping me Carl. I have lots of issues to work out on the car. Respectfully, Jerry
  7. 1972 240Z production date 7/72 When I got the car back from restoration it had a clunking noise when backing up and wanted to pop out of gear. We thought that it related to the shifter.:bulb: I put a correct shift lever in the car with new bushings today and the problem is the same.:tapemouth Anyone had this problem. It is only there when backing and it sounds like a bad universal joint clunking.
  8. I have searched the other threads and did not get the answer I was looking for:ermm:. Does anyone have an accurate wiring diagram for the 1972. One that shows the heater blower motor, in line fuses etc... I am at wits end :angry:looking for wiring problems in my restored :tapemouth 72. Thanks JLP
  9. Thanks DJ, I am looking for an original antenna for my original radio and application. Parts etc.... to try and put a working unit together over the winter. Thanks JLP
  10. I am looking for Electric Antenna parts for my 1972 Z. What's out there?
  11. No, The paper I found would be good to replicate the two forms in Michael's post. (the top right two). I am sure if I had the originals I could find paper and format the other. Much information would have to be gathered for each tag. Selling dealer, selling dealer ID number, Port of entry, etc... The paper I have found for the two on the right is 15# perforated pin feed paper. It would need to be cut and printed prior to tearing at the perforation points to get the original, (lack of perfect) alignment with the color crossing the perforation. I have also found a source for the two sided gum adhesive and samples are on the way. Accuracy is important. Thanks for the question TomoHawk.
  12. Dan, I am sorry for not getting back to you sooner although it seems you have had good advice and information from the best. The cartridges I have are self contained replacements for the original struts. You remove your factory strut parts and just drop these cartridges in. You do need to put oil in with them but only to act as a heat sink to the housing. Jerry
  13. I am on one of my quest; I am looking to reproduce the damaged window sticker for my car. I found the traction feed 15# 11.75 X 8.5 Paper and have a company ready to photo shop and print the blank forms for me on the paper. Anyone interested in blank forms or could type in your information? I do not know the total price for the project as of yet. LMK JLP
  14. I just purchased a all weather cover from BRE. It seems to be a nice fitted cover but I do not know how it would do in the rain. jlp

  16. I am having a vendor make interior reproduction labels for the following. Heater control panel (Black with silver) CHOKE (on the fuse panel door) (Black with silver) Hazard ON OFF (for the dash) (Black with white) The vendor makes quality pieces and cover them in a clear film to protect from ware. LMK if you are interested in any or all of these. JLP
  17. Had a chance to work on the parts car for about an hour tonight. I pulled out heater control panel, heater blower, and radio. All are in good condition and working order. I soaked all of the bumper bolts with BP Blaster and am letting them sit. I hope to get the dash out Wednesday. I am thinking of keeping the wheels and tires to store my 72 on over the winter.
  18. Steve, It has the emblems you were looking for.
  19. Bump this thread.

  21. I did it again. Just picked up another Z for parts. Good dash, good roof, good original glass and some NOS parts:classic:.
  22. He seems to know a lot about the cars such as the screws holing the back rest to the seat mechanics are chrome and he informed me that they should be black chrome etc...
  23. He has offered to restore my Luggage straps and to supply new hardware and suggested a few of his other parts after looking at pictures of my car. (tool box sticker, inertia sticker, black chrome seat back screws, re-chrome on my glove box emblem, etc...)
