  1. I am in the process of refurbishing a pair of original battery terminal cables.

After removing the terminal clamp bolt on the negative cable, I noted that bolt (6.0 mm x 1.00 mm x 1-1/4") had a rounded “U” head to match the profile of the terminal clamp.

As you can see from the attached photos, there is no indication that the bolt head was modified with added metal to reshape a square or hex head bolt to form the rounded edge.

Has anyone else seen a terminal clamp bolt with this rounded “U” head?

    Thanks,

    Keith

Thanks for blazing the trail.  I may give this a try with some straight braided hose that I have on hand.  The early-style engine-side brake vacuum hose is a hard item to find.

    Namerow,

Were you successful with the braided hose?

Left rear hook on the front right of the car.  Hook portion should point the other way.  I will need to replace this hook with either the middle of the right one above.

Does anyone have fastener specifications (size and grade)?

    Thanks,

Since these clear vinyl seat protectors are no longer available from Nissan, nor are reproductions available from existing fabricators, I sourced a large quantity of clear vinyl material to fabricate reproductions.  These are for the 1969-1971 seats that do not have the recline mechanism.

Set of eight (8) as shown in photo, (plus close-up photo)

Material is same gauge/thickness as original

    Photos show:

Set of four (4) original, aged and yellowed clear vinyl seat protectors and set of four (4) reproduction clear vinyl seat protectors.

Set of eight (8) reproduction clear vinyl seat protectors - what you would receive upon ordering.

The pricing is $48.00 shipped to a CONUS address. Shipping will be insured with tracking.

If you are interested in a set, please PM me your full name, mailing address and Paypal address. I will then send you an invoice.

Note, these are time consuming to produce.  Therefore, I  will only send the invoice when the set is available for shipment, production timefame as noted below

    Thanks,

    Keith

Note: The last time I offered these was Summer 2022. So if you plan on needing a set before Fall 2025 please order now.

Have the jack that came with vin-51, can’t make out the markings, but has a clear enough decal…..  anyone take a shot at the stamping? Couple different angles.. and lighting.

This appears to be a black and white copy (the machine used to make the copy could not read the red and blue colors) of the Skyline Hakosuka decal. JDM-CAR-Parts Link makes a good color decal:

    All,

I am looking for a bump stop that matches the OEM as close to possible in size, rebound and appearance. (I have read that the aftermarket urethane is not as compliant as the original hard rubber.)

Has anyone identified an alternative to the NLA original bump stop?

    Thanks,

    Keith

Recently, a pair of inspection lids from a Series 1 were offered on ebay.

One of the photos accompanying the ad depicted the rubber cushion (63223-E4102) to be shorter and having a “L” profile dissimilar to the ones usually seen on early 240Zs.

Has anyone previously seen a similar cushion?

    Thanks,

I did extensive research on seat upholstery kits years ago. Naturally there could be changes in production in the marketplace since then.

What I learned was that Seatz manufactures two different style 240Z seats based on production year. The primary difference is the length of the seatback material, since early years did not have recliner mechanism, and later years did. Distinctive industries only manufactured one length of seatback with the thought that the extra material could be tucked up into the seat back.

Distinctive Industries manufactured the foam kit overseas to meet the specifications of their seat upholstery kits. Seatz does not manufacture foam kits and relies on dealers to offer foam kits to those customers who need them.

Since each kit is hand produced (both Seatz and Distinctive Industries) there inherently will be variation in fitment to either original seat foam or aftermarket foam kits.

To make matters more complicated, some cars have had their original seats replaced over the years, resulting in non-year specific seats installed in a dated car.

With all these variables of mind, it is not unusual to have to shape the seat foam by either cutting the foam or adding additional foam.

I personally went through three sets of seat upholstery kits, and ultimately had to return a set to MSA in order to have Seatz rework a seat back.

Persistence is the key to getting the seats to original. This project can easily exceed 10 man-hours.
