i say nopers on the 4bbl. a downdraught carb is a poor choice for performance IMHO. if you DO decide to go carb'd, go with triple sidedraughts. i recommend mikunis, but dellortos and webers are also available. honestly, EFI is probably going to give you the best overall performance, though

the gear is rotated by a helical gear on the crankshaft. that rotates the shaft. the locator on the bottom (near the gear) is an impeller for the oil pump, and the other side rotates the dizzy

ya, not very much as the Z31 was a COMPLETELY different car; even more so than the S130

welcome! and as bill said, best performance mod for you will be a 5 speed. not too expensive (figure around $500 for parts) and will make the car MUCH more enjoyable! don't forget to check out hybridz.org as well. there is a lot of support for performance modifications over there.

if you want a good "around town" and weekend warrior combo, i would recommend a later 5-speed and a 3.9 or you could pop a 3.7 in there with the 4-speed. you'll lose a bit of top end, but getting there will be thrills to the gills!

    wow, nice score!!
  11. if it's an MSA fan, chances are the sensor is a meat thermometer-looking dealy stuck into the radiator. it may have fallen out....

^agreed. for best DD ratios, go with something that was stock in a car; i.e. sdwap in an R200 and a 5 speed from the same car. if you want more accel, go with a higher numerical ratio, and vice versa. my combo is 280Z 5-speed with a 3.7 r200. i'm eventually going to go with a 3.9 when i find it
  13. what kind of electric fan is it? trace the wires from the fan to find the switching source. it sounds like it's a bad temp sensor (different than water temp sensor that goes to the gauge) or maybe some wires got crossed.
  14. ditto. most aftermarket clutches are for 280Z (i know that my centerforce II is a 280) and you have to use a 280Z clutch collar (slightly longer?) with it. the clutch/combo in my car right now is the same way. can't wait to get the CFII in anyway, MSA has the clutch collar for less than $20.
  15. when i first read this, all i thought was "i can't wait to get windows OFF my laptop, why would i want it in my car??" then 'windows' hit me....hahahah

that car's fast, too, but it's not the one i was talking about... it was a buick v6

that is actually a pretty good deal, if i say so myself....

^but once we factor in traction into the equation, we can see closer tolerances. but the car would have to be pretty light to manage sport bike acceleration.
  20. ya, sounds a bit extreme for "carbon build up"

they would fit a 5speed. best way to reduce the size of the pics is load them into photobucket or imageshack. i like imageshack because you can make a thumbnail.
