  2. thax 26 ...woow a pace car would be really nice, but i dont think i have one of those, he cars looks normal, are an easy way to see if it (was) a pace car the tubes for the flag were are they?
  3. oo really,mm i didnt knew that the 90+ 300xzTT is the only Z that wasent sold in europe?
  4. ythe guy show the earlier Z cars and said bad things about the 260, 280, and 300zx that they were ugly and heavy then he jumped to the 350z but what about the 300zxTT aaaaaaaa he missed that on purpose??? i dont think so he has somethign against jap cars
  5. oo ok thx a lot i dont like aftermarket fans i prefer it orginal. i wanted your opinion becuse i have a 73 and a 71 (sunroof) nd i dont know wich one to restore, but now i am going for the 73 i hope i dont change my mind because yesterday i wantd to restore the 71 intead of the 73 (bcause of carbs, heads, emission stuff) thx a lot
  6. Hi, my name is Ricardo i live in tijuana mexico (next to the boarader) most of the time nd in san diego CA i have a 240z 71 and 73 and a 90 300zx 2+2. i am 19 and i work Mcdonalds and i study at southwestern college. i am restoring the 73 and keepgin the 71 for parts and later put a v8 for racing and the 300zx its my daily driver.
  7. yeah your right they do look before their time, datsun did make them right??
  8. thnx beandip, oo sorry i forgot, because i have 2 Zs that i want to restore a 71 and a 73, the 71 has the sunroof but the 73 has the bad heads and carbs adn the vapor lock thing. the 71 has sligthly more rust than the 73, but has a the electronic gadgets better , so my debate is to restore wich one and keep the other for parts, i ll apreciatte you r opinion? waht would you do in my place i dont have alot of money and i am not a trainned mecanic
  9. í am still not sure, i the 71 has better carbs, and dont have to worry more about the vapor lock thing, but it has the sunroof, adn the 73 i need to swap more things freomthe 71 to the 73 and fix the lock system and those are expensive swaps, i dont need to pass emissions (in a car that age) were i live
  10. ooo i forgot.. doesth e sunroof decreases the handling?? if yes how much?? sorry for these dumb questions i just taht you guys are all the help and opinions that i can get and probably need
  11. sorry for bad spelling, the sunrrof totally suks now i need to replace everything except the hole . I just dont like the way the sunrrof looks closed, but seeing the 73 is like 200 pounds more!! and smog stuff :S, but i will be really depressed when i finish restoring the 71 and though "that suroof looks ugly i should have restore the other one"
  12. why nobody likes sunroofs?
  13. oo and hte sunroof is not a glass sunroof is like a black coat osometing that slides
  14. yea ill stick with the 71 with the money iam spending in swaping carbs, heads, bumper etc i can repeair the rust, but i am still in doubt of the sunroof, it loosk ugly closed, was this a fatory option?? or is it custom? because if its cutom made forget ill go with the 73... as it goes fortheother car well i will use for parts but ill paint it an dput undercoat to keep the body in good shape and when istotally stripped and theparts are of no use i wil sell them and the put a ls1 wiht a t56 on it so i will have mi classic original and a weekend racer but that when i get a better job mcdonalds is not very good
  15. mm yea ill probably go for the 71, but not 100% some people say that the sunroof reduce the body integrity, ooo and the 73 and crappy heads, but i am afraid of rust!! and the 71 has slightly more rust nd taht is my worst long term enemy. well gonna continiue tinking about it
  16. hi, i have 2 240z a 71 and a 73, the 71 has more rust but not much than the 73, i dont know wich one kep for parts, the 71 has better interior and electrical things that i dont like to fix . the 71 has a sunroof and i dont know if taht is good or bad or if they are a pain in the arse in winter when it rains, at first i planned to swap carbs and bumper (is the crome bumper what is the heavy part right????) and star taking out the parts that are made to pass emissions, or just leave the 71 and put some bondo on it what do you guys think??
  17. ill try to get a pic soon to show it better
  18. Thx for the pic, my drivers seat has the recline lever and the slider lever on the right, in the pic the slider lever is in the rightand i think the recline lever is on the right to, mine dosent have knob...o and the seat below the recline lever has like a type of white lever (like if it supposed to be used form behind??) and my passenger side dosent have the white small lever ht i cent find the used because th lever i stuck o something that i cant use it (i been putting wd40 all night). they both look original
  19. HI guy si just bought a 73 240z, the seats are the originals but now i am not sure if re the original year because the passenger has the lever to recline in the right (outside) and the drivers car has it in the right to (inside),but it dosent hve a function it looks stuck maybe rust, but could be that that seat was taken froma passenger car?
  20. I checked my head and i have the smooth head so its the late e88 that suks gonna changet, hope your is the first, but if you have driven early Zs dont you notice the diference? or is it because is chaved?
  21. thnx man i tried with "search" but without the word "early" so i could find enything, but thanx i found
  22. hi i just bought a 73 240z and the owner told me he changed the whole engine, but left the same square carbs that suks,, but i cant find a way to know if the head is fomr a 73 or a 72- bcause i know the 73 e88 is not as good. thx you guys
  23. thank you guys ill probably ave the 71 for parts or swap most of what i can because i dont want to have smog stuff.
  24. ok heres the deal i jsut bought a 240z 73 2 weeks ago for $600 the body is fine, but the carbs suks and i think other parts arent working well, engine and tranny are good. while i was looking for some round carbs in tijuana mexico i found a 71 240z that they sold for 300!! he said that he dosent use it because the body i to rusty and he cant find another one the engine in the 71 is better than the 73 and the tranny is good to and it has sunroof!! and mi 73 dont. i dont no if wap everythign form the 71 to the 73 or just the carbs or fix both and sell the 71 or somethign what do u guys recommend me? waht bugs were fixed in the 73 or waht are the pros and cons i was just planning to swap the carbs o the engine. thx guys i would really aprreciate the advice
  25. come on you guys, dont blame the 350z y have a 240z 73 and a 300zx and i driven a 350z there a total difernte types of cars, 240z its a classica and maybe the 350z will be in 30 years and the 350z its a "Z" if it and a base trim of leather seats etc it would be a ZX i dosent even have power antenna radio!! but it gives the abpou the same performance of the 300zxTT naturally aspired... yea it is so difficult to make "do it wourselft" stuff but ame as the 300zx (90+) adn taht is a great car it is in that model taht was named "all time best selling sports car" (correct if i am wrong) having all the electric it still can be sports car, so the rx8, s2000, and probably all new sport cars arent going to be sprts car??? maybe when the 240z some people said "that is noa sports car it even has power antenna!" tech gagets cant be the same in a 30 year basis, so we need new skill we feel more love to the 240z because its a classica car that we have memories etc, and if i have a 350z and crash it to hell i buy another one but in 30 year it be really pissed of if i crashed my 350z (even more of a 240z), time passes so does sports cars the 240z was comfortable then the 350z is comfortable now both are 2 seater and the exterior of the 350z is more original IMO the 240z was based more on jag stuff (but at less price). all this is in my opinion guys
