Fuel tank ?????
By the way.... On the inside of the fuel tank, is there a filter / mesh on the end of the pickup tube? I just think that there is sooo much crap in this tank I am restricting flow somewhere.... Thanks! ~Brian

Fuel tank ?????
Howdy, And yes I am still battleing the fuel issues that I have, Car falls fon it's face after a sustained full on run after the first 15 seconds of good pull, usually when at least 3/4 throttle. Has anyone else had lines that had blockage but still passed are via a blower on an air hose? the pressure just drops off at a sustained rev, I had a 7 LB pump on it and have it regulated down to 3.5 - 4 and it still works it's way to around 2 or 1 or even almost zero... Shouldn't the pressure read a steady 3.5 - 4? I plan on dropping the tank, I am running a filter before the pump and before the triples... I am ready to set the thing on fire. But I'd more than likely run out of fuel! Thanks! ~B Also, is there any effect of having the return lines going to nowhere from the PO?

Mikuni Triples Fuel pressure??????
What are you running for pounds setting?

Mikuni Triples Fuel pressure??????
So if I go with a rotary style Carter max of 8 LBS part number p4594 and regulate it at 4 or 5 lbs I should be good? I hate that max of 8 lbs, it doesn't state an average flow...the GPH is 72 by the way.... Thanks for the info... By the way 2-4-t, what set up are you using?

Mikuni Triples Fuel pressure??????
On the '74 I have triple mikunis... Those of you that are running this or any triple setup, what are you running for fuel pressure? I assume that since these are not a draft style carb, the pressure is important as far as performance goes, not just keeping the bowls full.... At a sustained rev (3k RPM) my pressure is dropping to 2 LBS or so and at an idle it's at 5 LBS. I think that the motor is low on pressure fuel wise which is contributing to performance issues as far as demand goes, I have a great pull in the first few seconds then the engine seems to "drop off" a bit. Any suggestions as far as fuel set up goes? I am currently running an electric pump that has a rating of around 3-5 LBS. I think that I need more but I don't want to blow past the seats... Ideas or suggestions? Thanks and have a great day!!! ~Brian

2 Mikuni's?
The way that Mik's are designed seems like it would be really difficult for the spread / atomization of the fuel going into the intake, the information is correct that it is a "carb per cylinder" type of approach... The correction rule applies to me as well by the way... Have a great day. My 3cents...

Midwest Z is the place to go! I have not heard anything good about dashboard resto, but have not used them personally, just going off what I have heard which has been all bad. I have however, dealt with Chloe at midwest Z and was pleased! Have a great weekend! ~Brian

Head Gasket opinion (non Z)
I think that I am lucky, but, I figured that I'd try the paint trick, and see waht happens, the head is an easy pull and I figured nothing ventured, nothing gained. Also, the Stocker head gasket was about a week out and I had the Fel-Blow at my disposal... A bit impatient you could say. So far, no regrets and it's been in the engine for about 600 miles so go figure... However, Zmefly is correct, use a stock or like head gasket, I usually swear by them and will spend the extra $. Have a safe new year!!! ~Brian

Head Gasket opinion (non Z)
Ok, here we go... I am running a '74 Z with 11:1 compression and I thought long and hard about the approx $45 gasket compared to the much-less-priced non stock head gasket. I went with the Fel-Pro and did the old trick of coating both sides with a high pigment alumimum paint and then retorqued the head... Everything seems fine (knock on wood:stupid: ) So go figure, I am currently doing the head on my '71 and I am going that same way... I guess it's a matter of opinion and somewhat luck. ~Brian

Ignition
Currently I am running a dual point Mallory on my '74 with no vac. advance and I see no advantage so far from the stock setup. Am I on drugs or should I notice a difference? And yes, the advance is set at 34 degrees at 3k RPM... I have not tried the stock setup but plan on it... As far as a rev limiter goes, I have never understood this concept, I for the most part know from "the ear" where the engine is needing to be released of some RPM's. I have never bought into the idea of a rev limiter based on the "old school" way of thinking... Am I off base on this? (Not to open a can of worms on myself...:classic: ) Have a safe new year! ~Brian

I have an engine in my '73 that I need to part with... It runs strong, and I was going to keep it but I am running out of room. The car had a tree jump in front of it a few months back (I hate it when that happens) and has been started up about every two weeks to keep things fresh. Here is the story on it, it's an L20 Block, Y70 Head. I have been told that you can take the crank out of the L20 and transplant it into a L28 for good bore / stoke ratio. Some of the cars in Japan are using that set up to race. At any rate, it runs well just the way it is, I have no idea of the cam or any other work done, I bought the car from a guy who claimed to have the engine gone thru, but who knows. It did not burn any oil when I drove it. Suspension and sway bars are nice... Has SU's. Let me know if there is any interest or takers, I've been told it's worth $500 or so, I have no idea am am open to suggestion. I am thinking about parting the car so any questions lemme know. The passenger side headlight bucket and fender is wasted and along with the bumper and hood. Have a great holiday!!! ~Brian You can reach me at ZcarBri@hotmail.com

Are all the guys with Mikuni triples just posers??
Do you guys have any advice on the adjustment on the Pilot screw adjustment? I ordered new ones from Toysport and am working on them today.... Also, Do these affect the runability on anything other than idle? Thanks! ~Brian
