Mmm...and that exhaust note....! It's very nice. But if you hear it, you may be inclined to pick one up for that sound alone.

Well, to begin with...I like the fact that the 240Z will be fairly easy to fix/replace engine parts, and that it envokes Z heritage every time I look at it. It really is a beautiful car. The 350Z is a powerful, torquey car that handles incredibly, that is beautiful in a different way. The one thing that I've noticed the most...is the generation gap of admirers of these 2 cars. Generally, it's the older crowd that comments on the 240Z...whereas the younger crowd tends to drool over the 350Z. As far as driving characteristics are concerned...they are totally different. I don't push the 240Z, or drive it agressively. I get more satisfaction just cruising and being seen in it. Whereas, pushing the 350Z to its limits is when it truly shines. There's really nothing more satisfying than feeling the tightness of its suspension around a corner, or its instant drive-by-wire throttle response. Does that help a little?

GRM 240Z vs 350Z comparo
Actually, the Track model doesn't come with nav, or leather/heated seats. Only the Touring model does(and as options on the other trim models). The Track is the bare-bones, no-frills 350.

GRM 240Z vs 350Z comparo
Well...I'll give you guys this much.... It sure is alot easier to drift a 240Z than a 350Z. Audi ! Ha ha! That hurts my feelings...

That works. I have another forum for the 350Z, so I'll be sure to only ask 240Z-related questions here, as not to offend anyone! ! Anyway, being that I just bought this car (240Z)... Can you guys suggest a good self-help repair guide for it? I've checked Chilton's, but all they have is a mixed Datsun book. I want something solely dedicated to the 240Z. Help?

GRM 240Z vs 350Z comparo
Well...don't you think the 240Z was up-to-date with technology in 1972? Wasn't it just as complex than all the other cars made in 1972? Sure it was. It's all relative. I see your point too, but. When Nissan decided to revive the Z for 2003...they couldn't have very well gotten away with introducing a 3.5L dual-carburated engine, now could they? :cross-eye

GRM 240Z vs 350Z comparo
Well...I guess that makes a little more sense. Maybe. So what you're saying, is... you guys would have been happier if Datsun would have just discontinued the Z after...oh, i dunno....1970-something-or-other?

FOR SALE! My Z mags (wheels)
Are those chrome??? Or just really clean? I have those mags on my 240, but they don't shine like that. They are more like a flat silver finish. Do they make those wheels in both finishes?

Well Ed...to be honest... I love them both for different reasons, but there seems to be alot of 350Z-bashing on this forum. I don't really understand what brings that on. Do you?

GRM 240Z vs 350Z comparo
You guys are really making me regret registering to this forum. . Mike is absolutely right....you guys DO sound like a bunch of old men bashing the 350Z because of its "new fangled technology, etc.." Now, I am not out to make enemies or anything, and I realize you guys are all quite 240Z-biased...but... I have yet to hear an intelligent or even a legitimate comment with regards to the 350Z and its performance/heritage (or lack thereof)... and it would seem, by reading these posts, that a few of you are just making rash assumtions brought on by fits of jealous anger whenever you see a 350Z pass by you on the interstate. :devious: Again, I am sure you are all adults here, and I love my 240Z just as much as my 350Z, but...C'MON! Times change. Therefore, technology mandates more advanced parts and more advanced features of a modern car. What the 350Z is...is a true 2-door sports car with power and handling that rivals most of todays $50-60,000 cars for a lot less money. What the 240Z is, and was...was the same thing back in the 70's. ...an affordable sports car that rivaled the more expensive sports cars of the '70s. Simple as that. That may be the only thing the 2 cars have in common, besides the letter Z on the trunk, and Nissan may be a totally different animal than Datsun was... but one shouldn't pass hasty judgement on a great car unless one is speaking from experience...and not from a biased, non-objective view. I'm done.

Hey guys. I am currently a 350Z owner (don't hold it against me!) ...but I just purchased a 1972 Datsun 240Z in great shape from a private seller. I want to restore it and keep it stock and original, but am not terribly familiar with this car, except to say I love the way it looks. I just wanted to introduce myself and hopefully you guys will have some advice for me down the road. God knows I will need it!:stupid: Thanks.
