I can't speak for his picture but there are actually several hardy palm varieties which can withstand -20 degrees F. They've been planted as far north as Canada. http://www.aaronscanna-amaryllis.com/palm/index.html FWIW, Chris A.

Jim beat me to it..... Hi Jeff, Couple of things you can check. Do you have a multimeter? You can get a cheap one at any autoparts store. Put the meter on the battery with car not running. Note the reading. Start the car and note the meter reading again. Should be 14 or more volts. If the meter shows a good reading, then turn on the lights, heater etc. Note the reading again. Rev up the motor while all the goodies are on and note the readings you get on the meter. If the voltage drops its most likely the alternator or the voltage regulator is bad. The regulator is the box beside the alternator on the inner fender. You could clean the connections at the alternator and the regulator and try the meter reading again. Might be a dirty connection or loose connection. Much luck, Chris A.
  7. I hope Alan will respond to this, but in the meantime, google "Nissan Skyline" and have yourself some good reading. You are correct though, they are legendary. Chris A.
  8. No problem Alan. I'd like to see a JJ code sometime (on my Xterra). Beautiful wheels for a beautiful car, thanks for the pictures. Chris A.
  9. J, JJ, K, JK, B, P and D : Tyre bead profiles / rim contour designations. "No, my keyboard letters weren't stuck down when I typed this. The letter that typically sits between the rim width and diameter figures stamped on the wheel, and indicates the physical shape of the wheel where the tyre bead meets it. Like so many topics, the answer as to which letter represents which profile is a long and complicated one. Common wisdom has it that the letter represents the shape. ie. "J" means the bead profile is the shape of the letter "J". Not so, although "J" is the most common profile identifier. 4x4 vehicles often have "JJ" wheels. Jaguar vehicles (especially older ones) have "K" profile wheels. Some of the very old VW Beetles had "P" and "B" profile wheels. For example, the "J" code makes up the "Rim Contour" and specifies rim contour dimensions in a single category of rims called "Code 10 to 26 on 5deg. Drop-Centre Rims".

Welcome Alex, Good luck in your search for a Z. Yes, 240's and 260's are more rare than 280's. The 260 being more rare due to a short production span. If I had to guess, I'd say finding a 280Z in your area will probably be easier than the older models. Take your time, and find the car that's just right for you. Chris A.
  12. The fact that its even here is the most valuable to me.
  13. Well, surprise surprise. The owner (Mike) just called and offered to sell me the car for $6000. Claims that was his reserve. Said he had a two phone calls yesterday. One said he'd pay $5000 and the other said he'd pay $6000. Said he wanted me to have first shot at it. I declined as I have enough irons in the fire as it is. So maybe whoever offered him the $6000 will get the car. Lets hope so and maybe its a member here. FWIW, Chris A.
  14. I had planned on going to see it but had other commitments I had to take care of. I told the guy he wouldnt sell it for his reserve based on his pictures and description. But because Burt told him what it was worth, he didn't really care about the content in the auction. He said a true Z person would appreciate it. Guess I'm not a true Z person. FWIW, Chris A.

Eric, I did find another equivalent to the C828 transistor. It's NTE Electronics NTE229 transistor. But they are based in New Jersey USA so that might not help the folks down under. I buy a lot of stuff from www.mouser.com and they have a great cross reference system. Again, thanks for the article. Chris A.

Hi Eric, I am so glad you posted this. I've got one of the Citizen calendar clocks that doesnt work and its driven by the same circuit board as in your article. Thanks VERY much for this, I am off to the electronics store. Chris A.
  18. Good eye there Todd. Looks likes its hanging in the spot where the fresh air duct would be attached to the inner fender. Chris A.
  19. You can get an Amen there Tom. Chris A.
  20. Hi Bob, I told him as much on the phone. He didnt seem to care. FWIW, Chris A.
  21. I've got questions also. Blue tank looks to be a coolant recovery system...just guessing. Look at these two pictures. 1) Red cable coming out of fender. What is that? 2) Black hose appears to be plumbed right into top radiator tank.
  22. Yeah, me too!! LOL Chris A.

Hi Jared, Well, I got some parts off a 1976 280Z 2+2 this afternoon. Man, I've seen some rusty Z's but this one took the prize! What a bucket. I'm a little concerned that the parts I got are not the same as yours. Here are two pictures and you decide if you want them or not. PM me your address, no P.O. Box, I use UPS. Chris A.
  25. Hi Mark, Welcome to the club officially. From what I've heard from Ron Carter and John Coffey (sp?) you've got some nice cars. Regards, Chris A.
