  1. I had both a 79zx and 82 zx. I preferred the 82 hands down . It felt like the steering / suspension felt better although I'm not sure if any changes were made. But it was what it claimed to be a ZX not a Z and you can't knock it for that. So if a 79zx is what you want go for it.

Probably not worth it for me then . Thanks.

Are those high flow air filters as good as they say . Before I put one in the Dakota and mazda I was wondering if anyone had any feedback on them.
  4. I would be cautious because without scraping off all that(or at least in random areas) undercoat I don't see how you could realistically estimate the amount of underbody rust one might encounter. That to me determines the value of this car.

The car was listed as mint condition which I took with caution but not enough. As I stripped the paint the nausea got worse. The rewelded inner front fender damage(PO denies knowledge) has kept this car from being anything but a daily driver and will not sell to another victim.Damage does not affect alignment just pride. #1 replace rockers #2 " " doglegs #3 " " front/rear lower quarters #4 remove dash to fix bomb squad wiring But I have learned alot in the process and can almost give advice. I am even toying with the idea of getting rid of the Z32 to get another s30.
  6. The inside of the rear strut tower on my is the pale yellow you mentioned.

I'm no expert at electrical but another thing to check before you do anything rash is unplug the gauge and test the wires at the end of the connection , then the gauge itselfe. Unless I'm mistaken all the gauges are run off the same harness which is run inside the dash itselfe. Then the other connectors from the engine compartment in the passenger side by the glove box connect to that harness there. Anyone feel free to correct or add.

Looks great. You're tempting me to sell the 32 and start the search again. I paid more for the same year but at least mine came with rust.

I've got the vise grips on the line and will pull the top off the pump tonight but is there anything inside the pump to be concerned about(parts falling out) . P.S read all your other F.I. posts and will go after air regulator, bccd and altitude switch next (high idle) just figured on doing strainer while suspension is out.

I took the battery out of the Z32 for the winter .? is will all the memory dependant items have a problem in the spring?

I'm not sure on the older Z's but check your springs.By the pic it looks like one side is behind/posterior to the shoe and the other side anterior for the top spring. The bottom one looks to be behind/posterior on both sides. I'm working on my 77 brakes now and both upper/lower springs sit on the anterior surface of the shoe. I'm not even sure if it matters but worth looking at.

Is this an add on filter from previous owner? I didn't see it the manual but it looks factory because of the bracket.

You are probably referring to the spindle pin I think. Search spindle pin here and atlanticz.com . Also search spindle pin tool .I'm in the process of doing mine now.

I did have the same symptoms such as having a glowing fuse and no brake lights. I too accused the fusebox but it turned out to be a bad connection or ground in the tailight harness .Enrique can explain how that happens better than me. Tomo , when you figure out the cigarette lighter thing please post it. Thats the only thing I can't get to work without blowing a fuse or having the lighter launch out like a missle. That blue/white wire will haunt me forever!

I used Spreadrock on my front steps , but they say it is good for garage floors also. It works well for the steps but I'm skeptical about garage usage .I think if you look up daich coatings they'll have the info.
  21. Welcome , looks like a good find. I know the feeling well ,the guys I work with don't appreciate a Zcar but here everyone can see the potential even though it looks great as it is.
