Contact these guys about when they have their meetings. Go to a meeting and ask around. http://okzcc.com/

Yes, you should fuse it. That way if you have a short circuit, you take out the fuse and fuel pump but not the ignition. The 73 will still run without the electric fuel pump, but it will be more vulnerable to vapor lock if you still have the flat top carburetors. As for the inertia switch, you can find them on Amazon, eBay or Rockauto. You could also go to a junkyard and source one.

Yes, it requires re-wiring. Power the fuel pump off of the ignition circuit and have an inertia switch in that circuit to act as a cut-off in case of an accident.
  4. One - For accessing value, pictures are key. Otherwise we're talking about a $750 parts car for all we know. Two - People who sell their "baby" think that their emotional attachment is worth something. It's not. That can make negotiations difficult. That's my $0.02.

Philip, rust isn't an issue in God's country. You KNOW you want to move to Georgia. Great roads, great food, Southern hospitality, and you can drive your Z year 'round.
  6. About how much clearance is there between the valve cover and firewall. It looks kind of tight in there.
  7. I fixed the sharing issue with the photos. Jai - Caffeine & Octane is a free monthly car show on the first Sunday of the month. Costs are paid for by sponsors. According to a Facebook post by the C&O people, there were about 2,500 cars today.
  8. We had a pretty good Z car turnout for Caffeine & Octane today. There were 15 S30s and S130s in the main group, and there were another couple of early Z cars scattered around. I would say there was easily over 1000 cars there. Joe Travis, Pat Carr, and Pete Thomas from here all brought their cars out. You can find the rest of the photos here: https://stevescartography.wordpress.com/2015/08/02/caffeine-octane-august-2015-edition-175-photos/
  9. You are on the mark. https://fiddlingwithzcars.wordpress.com/2013/01/20/hazard-switch-brake-light-turn-signal-circuit-analysis/ https://fiddlingwithzcars.wordpress.com/2012/12/04/turn-signal-repair/
  10. I think RockAuto has a Bosch model for $65 + S&H.
  11. Dale, I was reading this thread today: http://www.zcar.com/forum/10-70-83-tech-discussion-forum/377666-260z-su-conversion-run-coolant.html. I think it might answer your question.

http://www.pure-gas.org lists 3 Fuel City stations. Two are in Huntsville, and one is in Hollywood. I saw at least one other on my last trip. The EtOH free gas was about $0.30/gallon more, but my 260Z sure seems to like it better, especially in the heat.

I like how the poster flipped the photo in a couple of the ads and resized the photo, too. The area code for the number posted in several of the ads is for the northern part of Kansas.

Dennis, you're reminding me why I don't miss California.

More importantly, what is the price of ethanol-free gas? Do you have Fuel City down where you live, or is that just in Northern Alabama?
  16. Be careful with the assembly of that check valve. Several of the reviews for it on Amazon indicated it tended to leak.

A good way to determine what model year your car is considered is to look at the parts in the parts catalog. A lot of the part number changes happen starting in September when the new models usually came out. You don't have a parts catalog? Well, you can buy a copy from this site. Click on the store link. Is $30 too rich for your blood to support this site? Then go to http://www.carpartsmanual.com. Do you do better with hard copies? Search eBay. They come up from time to time. While I visit carpartsmanual.com, I also have the hard copy because slow internet.

I'm thinking that's black and not blue. It's for your left headlight. See the Engine Compartment Harness drawing in the 1971 Supplement (pg 29)

    They don't list Datsuns: http://www.propartsusa.net/shockdept.html
  20. The fuel damper and fuel pressure regulator should work to maintain pressure in the fuel system when the car is off. Refer to the EF section of the factory service manual.
  21. Dang it, Cliff. I was thinking about that this morning. I guess you're confirming that I need to keep more items open. I think Philip has some tech tips on that.
  22. Thanks, Charles.
  23. Sometimes the car will fire and run, but it doesn't like load. Sometimes the car will fire, but it doesn't want to stay running. Even pressing on the accelerator doesn't keep it running. It seems fuel starved to me. The car has a good spark.
  24. As noted, the FPR on Jai's car has the two inlets. Here are the photos I took yesterday.
  25. I should from the tests. Basically, I should clamp off the return on the FPR. If the fuel pressure still drops, it is likely the fuel pump. Once I got on the road yesterday, I cooled down nicely. I bought some Gatorade to drink on the trip home. Plus there was plenty of shade for the drive back. My left shoulder is sore today. It's about time I had some exercise. Of course, I helped my wife wash & wax her car this morning. It still had the bugs from the Memphis trip all over it. I will post the pictures from yesterday, soon.
