  1. Well he is a mechanic and used to also race a camaro single carburetor car. He is 69 years old. Ill guess ill just wait for the new parts to arrive.
  2. My mechanic argues that the cause for plugs 3 and 4 fouling was due to a damaged pcv valve. I found one around my deposit. How can i ascertain this one is indeed working? How can i clean it?
  3. What kind of problems?
  4. Well in Panama we have 91 and 95 octane ethanol free gasoline. My car has the original manifold. I only have heatshield installed under the carbs. Maybe its time to consider ceramic coated headers. Thanks for your advice.
  5. Namerow, You are probably right. Ive spent so much money in parts and mechanics in Panama. Luckily, after 11 years of having purchased this car, this is the first mechanic who got all 6 spark plugs tanned correctly due to PCV valve not working correctly. I still have my theory of vapor lock and will remove the a/c condenser and fan i previously installed for the AC in my car. Do you think i need to leave the gas return line open for the car work better. (Airtex 8012S electric fuel pump)
  6. Any recommendations for quality parts: 160 degrees F thermostat maybe Mishimoto brand Alternator belt. Mechanic says the one installed could be sliding and i should get a tighter fit. Pcv valve
  7. Car was tested and leak down test was accomplished. Drove 30 minutes with no pcv valve connected and no thermostat to avoid engine temperature rising got stucked in short traffic. Car still got some rough idle when getting out of traffic until temperature went back to normal. Parked the car and all plugs were burning ok. So this could be a vapor lock or percolation problem. Leak down and compression test got good results. Do you still think i need to take the head out? He did blocked the fuel return line as i have an airtex 8012S electric pump installed and says no need to have that line opened.
  8. We are testing the car again tomorrow morning. I do notice some backfire when releasing the gas pedal maybe its due to the closing of the damaged pcv valve which permitted the oil flood of plugs 3 and 4. Car is not even reaching over 6000 rpms. A lot of misfire after getting out of traffic.
  9. This new mechanic says the pcv valve is shut. We are making a test drive on monday again and see what happens. The car is also now driven with no thermostat.
  10. Plugs pulled and with the pcv valve shut there is a difference in plugs 4 and 3 no more. However the initial problem is still there. If i accelerate the car in neutral and idle when warm it only reaches 6000 rpm. It struggles to go over those rpms. First picture top to bottom 6 5 4 3 2 1 Second picture plug 4
  11. We are still in Panama. Trump is making life in Europe very expensive. Im pulling out the 6 plugs and revert shortly.
  12. Well short story, according to new experienced mechanic the PCV ia shut and needs to be replaced. This was causing oil built up on cylinder 3 and 4. He also removed the thermostat for the car to run better. Im still testing the car as i really dont like waiting so long for the engine to warm up and scared of the fact the pcv is shut and needs to be replaced. I guess nobody really wants to test this car under heavy traffic conditions to determine the cause and solution of this problem.
  13. I need to lower the temperature in my car. Mechanic inspected the car and ask me to get a good fan clutch made in Japan. Any recommendations for a premium quality fan clutch for my 72 240z?
  14. Just replaced the pertronix ignition coil with a brand new one and new 1.5 resistor coil as the old one was not measuring any resistance at all. Just left it idling for 15 mins in the parkway. Lets see if the coil gets hot during traffic jams. VID-20250302-WA0021.mp4
  15. So 1/4 or 1/2 inch diameter? I guess 1/4 is the way to go
  16. Ive seen several on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0D5GZQYXP/ref=ox_sc_act_title_2?smid=A1DGO48EAHVET1&th=1 https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0C4LDSBF4/ref=ox_sc_act_title_3?smid=A1D2WOR1KGBRUG&th=1 Which one one would you recommend?
  17. I need to get my engine bay in order and tidy and would like recommentations on high temperature resisting nylon or cloth sheath. Anyone?
  18. Ok Gundee. Mechanic will certainly pull it out to see whats wrong. He also noticed lack of fuel in cylinder 1. Spark plug is not even tanned. Asides from that as temperature is rising to 3/4 he also suspects fan clutch should be revised. Which fan clutch would you recommend for this 72 which carries a champion 3 row radiatior?
  19. Hi Site, Good news i found a 69 year old Camaro carburetor mechanic and competition racer. He drove the car and determined there is lack of fuel when accelerating at low rpms. Car shouldnt hesitate when releasing the gas pedal. He also noticed spark plug in cyl one is not burning correctly and lot of fuel on cylinder 4. Unfortunately he is living in Tampa and will not be back until 2 to 4 months so he can take care of the car. He wants to deal with these issues and do a leak down test before taking the head out.
  20. Thanks Site! You are the best! Always looking for solutions!
  21. Okay why dont you recommend solutions and better brands before i make my purchase. Perfect critic!
  22. I got my electromechanic to check the wiring and it seemed connected all the way around. This is how it ended and hopefully there is no noise inside the dashboard when driving below 1500 rpms. Anyway im waiting for amazon to send me a new 1.5 pertronix coil and 1.5 ohms ballast resistor so we can eliminate lack of electricity from coil to cyl 4.
  23. Still trying to figure out the correct wiring to get a consistent spark. Dont know why the ac shop threw a wire from the coil to the ac blower?
  24. More cleare pics of the connections from dizzy to petronix 1.5 ohm coil. Original resistor is measuting 2.1 ohm though. I removed the coil sparkplug wire for clearer view and your input!
