If the 240Z were a Woman...
Italian of course! Hot tempered, lots of self pride and quite unafraid of others, always ready for a challenge. Highly respected and feared by many. Vicky

This Z was stored in a chicken coop since 1987
He'll have a hard time inciting a flame war here as we can only suggest what he should do with the car. If he chooses to butcher the car by making it a very common V8 conversion, no skin off our teeth. We've seen it done before and other fools will do it again. JMO Vicky

If the 240Z were a Woman...
If the 240Z was a woman, then I guess I'd be gay! Vicky

Where Would You Go in your Z?
I'd love to cruise the PCH. I'm going to do that next year when we bring the Z back to MSA for display Maybe we could get a group of Z's cruising together along that beautiful stretch of highway. Vicky

Flat Tappet Cams
I was reading an article about how NASCAR needs to update a few things in their cars. One article was how NASCAR continues to use carburetors but virtually no cars built today utilize carburetors. The other article was in reference to cams. It stated that they continue to use "Old Style Flat Tappet Cams" which are neither as efficient nor as durable as roller cams. Much of the cam failure that drivers experience would be eliminated with roller cams. Our Z's have roller cams, correct? Can someone explain to me what a "Tappet Cam" is. Vicky

any z licence plate ideas?
If you build the L28 out far enough it sounds just like a V-8. When we pull into a car show everybody swarms around this little red Z wanting to see the V-8 inside. We open the hood and they all just look stuned . They can't believe the mighty inline 6 can rumble with the big boys. When and if this site gets the ability for sound, I'll load up the 77 280Z...........it's a beautiful noise V-8 Z...been done...been over done IMO Vicky

Car Hauling
If Scott and I weren't so busy with work, I'd take a road trip to get your car. We have a dually and a 24ft enclosed car hauler. Have you thought about renting a truck and open trailer from some place like U-Haul? Vicky

MidwestZ??
Why doesn't someone contact the local police to go out and take a look. They'd do that for a local friend and I'm sure they'd do that for members here. Just an idea. Vicky

Did you buy the 27th-Z Chris? Vicky

Chrome plastic tail light accessories
That method is called "Polish Chrome" (You know as in the people from Poland, not as in shine) :cheeky: Vicky

Chrome plastic tail light accessories
In our gallery on this site, (when the gallery is up) a few of the engine shots might show the fuseable link covers (I think that's what they are called) with the chrome over plastic. The hood vents are also chrome over plastic. If you can't see them very well, I can ask my husband to snap an up-close picture so you can see how well they turned out. Price was $375.00 (done in 2002)for the fuseable link covers and hood vents. Can't remember if Scott had anything else done, don't believe so. The company name is Custom Coatings, they are in Tallahassee 850-562-0538. Vicky

Chrome plastic tail light accessories
What about clear coating the lenses after they have been shined up? Would the clear coat eventually peel? Vicky

Porsche recognition
I find vette owners to be the rudest, at least around here. I could pull up in a vintage Ferrari or Lambo and they would still "dis" me. Seems like people that get behind the wheel of a corvette grow horns Vicky

Chrome plastic tail light accessories
I read in a local hot rod magazine that to get the "fogged" look from any type of plastic, like tail lights, take very fine sand paper with with some water and rub the lenses. I would think that this would scratch the lenses but apparently it doesn't. This is simular to wet sanding the body prior to painting I guess. Think this would leave scratches but the more you do this the smoother the finish gets, same for plastic (?). Who's gonna be the first to try it? As far as chome over plastic, there is a place in Florida that does that. We had the hood vents and various other plastic items in the engine bay done. Very expensive and no guarantee that the plastic will not crack or break from the process. Well worth the chance we took in getting it done. Our Z sits in the Florida sun baking at car shows and the chromed plastic never has shown any signs of UV damage at all. FWIW Vicky

Evel Eagle 240z
Evel Knievel lives in the Tampa Bay area. A friend bought his Zimmer a couple years ago and it needed alot of work. I just have one question in reference to the sellers comments. They say, "Our winning bid for the car was approx 30K in mid 90's. Believe that after 911 that should be worth today at least 60% of our bid to be successful." I don't understand what they are trying to say. Do they want at least 60% of the 30K that they paid (got ripped off, IMO) for the car? Looks Corvette-ish to me. Vicky

To close to call.
Bill, you need to move away from the "breadbasket" area of the country. New York City, L.A., Detroit or Miami seem like much safer places than Dodge City Be careful out there! Vicky

72 240Z Door Locks
Correction.........The lock will not go down at all when the door is open with or without the key. The door has to be shut and can only lock with a key from the outside or by pushing the lock down from the inside with the door closed. As I said before the 78 was not that way, but then again you could pull the key out of the ignition and the car would stay running. Good for when the battery was low and I still needed to get back in the house for something and I didn't want to shut the car off. Vicky

72 240Z Door Locks
This is weird or is it? I can only lock the doors on the 72 from the outside with the key. Sitting inside the car with the doors closed I can push the lock down, I'm locked in, no problem. Open the door, get out, push the lock down, shut the door, it will not lock. Is this something Nissan did on these Factory cars to prevent num skulls from locking their keys in the car? My 78 was not like that as I've locked the keys in that Z many times. The 77 I haven't tried yet because I don't have an extra set of keys (and I don't what to go through the hatch) to try this experiment. Anyone else have a 240Z that does this? Vicky
