The Test
That was great! I got one in an e-mail today, made me sqirm a little... I'll post it here rather than start a new thread. Prison Escapee A man escapes from prison where he had been locked up for 15 years. As he is running away he finds a house and breaks into it looking for money and guns, but only finds a young couple in bed. He orders the guy out of bed and ties him in a chair. While tying the girl to the bed, he gets on top of her, kisses her on the cheek, then gets up and goes to the bathroom. While the escapee is in there, the husband tells his wife, "Listen, this guy is an escaped prisoner, look at his clothes! He probably spent lots of time in jail, and hasn't seen a woman in years. I saw how he kissed your neck. If he wants sex don't resist, don't complain, just do what he tells you, just give him some satisfaction. This guy is dangerous, if he gets angry, he'll kill us both. Be strong, honey. I love you." To which his wife responds, "He was not kissing my neck. He was whispering in my ear. He told me he was gay; thought you were cute, and asked if we kept any vaseline in the bathroom. Be strong, honey. I love you, too."

Diamond in the rough
I'm broken-hearted...really. I'm not sure I can live without her. You just don't find quality faux rust paint like that anywhere. It even appears to have bubbles and flaking. Well done indeed. Fooled me. Anyway best of luck. For those of you who found the description entertaining, be sure to take a gander at the feedback. Seems like a very honest straightforward person to deal with.:squareeye

I think I have found the Z of my dreams. I may just sell my 240. Either way I have to have it. What a value!! And it's just tan/brown paint....not rust...no really. :classic: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=6783&item=2442752992

Light turn signal switch
His EbaY username is "240z2go" . He believes now that the switch is actually for a '76 and will be re-listing it this week. The confusion was created when a friend of his suggested that the switch would work with any model 70-77. He is parting out his brother's Z for him, he doesn't know a lot about the car, but is very reasonable as explained earlier. Anyone interested in contacting him personally can PM me for his info. D

Light turn signal switch
Thanks for the suggestions. Cutting the wires was never an option. The guy on Ebay gave me a full refund including shipping. Too bad it didn't line up. It was only 31.00 for light switch and turn signal switch. I intend to try and take it apart in the next week or so. I will try the eraser idea.

Throttle Rod Firewall Boot/Seal
Honestly, I was just worried about breaking the white plastic sockets. Once these guys told me that they could be gently pryed off, I ran with it. I popped the one off on the engine side of the boot, and the one off from the floor board side. Unscrewed the stopper, popped the boot on, and reassembled. Whole job took less than 15 minutes. I took so much stuff a part as a kid and broke it, or lost springs or whatever, and couldn't get it back right. Sometimes I get scared I'm gonne do something like that to my Z. And some of these parts can be a real bear to find. Anyway, thanks everyone. Darren

Throttle Rod Firewall Boot/Seal
This isn't a very big emergency but a litlle help can go a long way. I am trying to replace the Throttle Rod Firewall Boot/Seal and I have a pretty small window of time to try and get it done. Anyone know the quickest way to go about this without having to remove the entire acellerator assembly? I see the little nut inside but everything is so delicate I didn't want to overcrank it and damage it. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. :classic: Thanks, Darren

You might be a Z fanatic if ....
...you feel like burning eyes and a sore throat from gas fumes in the cabin are all part of the fun. ...you don't consider having to lock the drivers door by walking around to the passenger side a problem. ...think that dim headlights on winding roads are exciting. ...think using RainX and driving fast is a logical sollution to slow wipers. ...have to give a 5 minute disertation on how to adjust the seatbelt to any new passengers.(240) ...tell your wife you'll be in From the garage in 5 minutes, about every 30 minutes. ...refer to Ebay as Zbay.

Light turn signal switch
Thought I'd post my progress for anyone else who might be trying to go this route. I called Chloee at Midwest Z. She has been a big help with some other parts I've needed, and had gotten them to me fast. Unfortunately though she didn't have anything for me. She had 71's and 73's. MotorSport informed me that the headlight switch for the '72 has been discontinued! And the blinker switch was $219.00!!:dead: The part #'s in case anyone ever needs them; 25160E8800 -blinker 25540N3300 -headlight I've sent an e-mail out to z@datsundude.com. Haven't heard back. I'm considering going with Rusty1's advice. I may try and use parts from inside the new one and try and put them in my old one. If they look better. Again, thanks to everyone for their insight. There isn't a place on the planet I could go to get this kind of information in such a short ammout of time. :classic:

Light turn signal switch
They are two seperate units, but neither side will connect up. :sleepy: My Z is a '72. I 'm at work and its at home in the garage so I can't check (due to a unrelated issue) but if I rememer right the tag inside the door said 10/71 I have been thinking of getting the microfishe CD. Thought I would ask first. Lot's of experienced folks around here. Thanks, D

Light turn signal switch
Well I screwed up.:stupid: My headlight switch usually takes 3 tries to turn on and my right blinker wont stay up through a turn. So I orderd a combination headlight turn signal switch from Ebay which was advertised to be compatible with my "72. Last night I was all excited to put it in only to discover the wiring harness wasn't compatible. I have contacted the seller who's name will remane private unless he decides to be difficult. I don't really want to cut the wires on my car. So my question is this; is there a specific part # to look for out there, so I can be sure that I am getting the right one next time. Also, how can I determine what year this new one is from in case I have to resell it? I don't want to screw someone else. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Yeah, I couldn't be happier with this car. She has a moderate ammount of work needing to be done on her, but that was what I was after. As far as the paint goes it appears to be a little of both. When cloesly inspected the hood, hatch and firewall appear to be original. The drivers fender and some of the side panels have been repainted. There is some subtle overspray where the new paint meets the original. There is a little rust on both sides in front of the rear tires and a spot or two on the hatch near the lock. No rust underneath. The bottom was sprayed with a clear protectant. I ve pulled all the carpet up. The interior is near perfect. I have ordered a center console. And will eventually get door panels. Carpet is all new, dash looks replaced, but excellent, seats are great. Sorry, going on too much here, just in love with this new beauty. Take care, Darren :classic:
