The retainer color looks like Racer Brown p/n LSA-312 to me but do not seem to be the same shape.

To be safe remove the bumper with the shocks attached if you can. No one will buy them separate anyway and will just go to the scrap yard with the rest of the car when he is finished with it.

I have a nice straight camshaft spray bar available. The issue is the ends are a little loose. I am not able to braze myself but maybe some one has the equipment and skill. Just sitting here taking up space.

What a stroke of luck. I hope everything is as good as it looks. I was wondering if the front bumper shocks are the same for both the early and late model 280Z. Did they bolt the late bumper to her early bumper shocks or did they remove her early style and install the late style shock with the bumper? Yes get any hard to find interior parts and switches as spares.

That seems high to me. I can get that for less than half of that at the yard by me but I would have to pull it myself. A good fender should be sourced too as the cost of repair typically is more than the replacement part and the result is full of bondo.
  7. Nope not me. I would not even pay half that price for a fat bumper 260Z. Even if it had only half the miles. Good luck but that is a car that will not be much of an investment as far as I am concerned.
  8. I have to agree with this. In my case I put a 78 5 speed in my 72 Z. I used a new 240Z Centerforce clutch kit. All I recall doing was reusing the TO bearing collar, clutch fork and slave cylinder from the original 4 speed. I had no issues with this set up.
  9. Is it a red one with white interior and A/C installed. There was one that has been sitting in storage 20 years in the Dallas area. His widow put it away for their son and I think he showed no interest. Might be sold or still sitting for all I know.

I have a box of parts stripped from a 280Z N42 intake manifold if anyone needs something or all of them.

Not sure if you purchased another alt yet. I bought this ZX alt from Advance Auto and used the jumper plug from MSA. I paid $55.99 for the alternator at the time. It looked nicely rebuilt and has really worked well. (5 years)

Covercraft makes custom fit for 240Z in several different materials. A little pricey. I had one of theirs for over 20 years and replaced it with a new one from them recently.
  13. Ended up elongating the holes with my dremel tool to fit. Then the rears were too long. So I drilled an new hole to get those installed. Go figure. I have no idea whats going on but they are installed and never coming off as long as I have the car.
  14. I can tell you I had 14 x 6-1/2" wheels with 13mm offset for a long time and had no issues at all. I think I was running 205/60-14 tires.
  15. Goose52, After reading this I realized my 40th year of ownership of my 72 was last year. Purchased 6/17/76. That 40 years went way too fast. Enormous list of changes over the years but have kept the body stock except for front and rear spoiler. Only one repaint over 20 years ago. I even have the very same front spoiler as yours. It has never once left me stranded. Sold my Triumph TR6 at the time so I could purchase the Z.

You want to call the power company right away. Tell them the neutral appears to be broken. Trust me that is a extremely dangerous situation! They will put you at the top of the list. You or someone in your family could not only get a very bad shock but ELECTROCUTED! Your power will be going directly into the earth. Very bad.

Actually on a service drop to the house from the power company is 2 insulated power conductors plus 1 bare neutral wire that is the return path. I hope that is not the neutral wire.
  18. Installed a new pair of Silver Project motor mounts. Guess I will be the guinea pig.

Yes I the guy told me he had to machine down the retainers for clearance just like you said. I just do not know what size lash pad he used. These are some parts I got from a former club racer. $40 Shipped for any member here.

Doing some cleaning. This is a full set of 12 Used Isky spring retainers. Ended up with a Schneider kit and won't be needing these. $45 shipped. I will likely put them on Craigslist if no interest.

My friends daughter and her husband live there on Sunset Blvd, and they were fortunate to have no water damage at all.
  22. I am thinking about 2 more years for mine to be listed there. Keep those prices up.
  23. Got my N42 back. All new valves installed. Now just to find the time to put the rest back together. Ever notice disassembly is fast and easy. Double the time for put back together. First off I am going to paint the head. Then transfer the cam kit from old head to this.
  24. I finally got a call after 4 weeks that I can pick up my rebuilt head on Monday. As you can see nothing was going on in the engine bay. Only 2 more months of driving this year before storage so I want to get back on this asap.
