Header/Intake Manifold Gasket- which to use?
I've had to replace mine several times on the race car. I have a Hooker header and use a FelPro gasket. It always leaked so I go some high temp sealer. I think it's the Permatex Ultra Copper. It dries red and works great! Chuck

Sealing an oil pan
I cleaned the surfaces. That's it. There probably wasn't any paint on the surfaces but if there was I would have left it. I probably put in some corner bolts since they're easy to access and then start putting in the rest. Once they're in then I go around in a circle tightening them little by little. Does it always leak in the same spot(s)? If so you might want to really check those areas for damage, chips, cracks, etc. Chuck

Sealing an oil pan
I've done several over the last few years and none have leaked. I used Felpro gaskets and either RTV or most recently Edelbrock Gasgacinch 9300. I make sure that the pan surface is flat. They're often over-tightened making the surface wavy. I put the sealer on the block, install the gasket, put sealer on the pan and set it in place. Then I lightly thread the bolts into the block. I go around the pan ~4 times gently snugging down the bolts until they feel equally tight but not too tight. It works for me. Chuck

Rotisserie advice
Here's a pic of mine. I forget the name but it's a pretty good one. Put the car on jack stands, attach rotisserie to bumper mounts and then raise each end of the rotisserie. It works very well. The brackets are meant for Mopars but I drilled an extra hole in the front mounts and made adapters for the rear. Chuck

Here's my other Mopar. It's a 1970 Plymouth Road Runner, 440, 6bbl, 4-speed 4.10 Dana, air grabber, Hemi Orange car. Repainted back in the early 1980 and had a vinyl top installed. It's all numbers matching and has no rust. Chuck

What's in YOUR garage?
The car is still in its original paint so WYSIWYG. I'm getting it ready for spring. I've rebuilt the carbs, bought stock exh manifolds and will get a new AAR exh system. I'm replacing the floor in the driver's foot area and the rear driver's floor. I also need to replace the trunk floor, trunk extensions and lower quarters. That should do it for now. I want to retain as much original paint as possible. Some day I will put it on the rotisserie and do every nut and bolt. Chuck

radio ID help needed
I've been googling but haven't found much. I also checked ebay. Maybe the DATSUN radio is from a truck but has a Z faceplate on it? I'm hoping that some people on here will recognize them. Chuck

radio ID help needed
I recently bought a bunch of Datsun/Nissan stuff and am trying to figure out what these radios and faceplates are from. The one Clarion analog AM/FM unit is also an 8-track player. I know that one is a Sony XR-4147. Any help is appreciated. If anyone has a need for any of these let me know. Chuck

Glad you got the parking lights fixed. Pull the fuse and check it. Sometimes the ends come loose. It might work for a while and then stop again. Might as well unplug those connectors again and spray some contact cleaner in there a couple times. I'll swing by my garage after work to see what air cleaner assembles I have. You/we really need to check the float situation. Chuck

Floor Pans... Getting screwed?
I probably did a complete seam weld. I think that I then used some filler to eliminate then edge so debris wouldn't catch it. I'm currently working on my AAR 'cuda and am replacing part of the floor pan. I'm going to lap weld because the metal is thin. Years from now I'll put it on the rotisserie and do a more complete/better job. Chuck

Valuation Question
The car is probably 2 hours for me so I'm not going to look at it. If it's close enough for you I think it's worth a look because you never know! I was interested in it for myself until I saw that the engine was gone. Then I thought about flipping it but with the black paint and other work needing to be done to get it running again I decided that the price was way too high for me. Chuck

Valuation Question
You can probably buy it for even less since he's open to offers. I bet there's rust in the lower fenders, rockers and/or doglegs. That's most likely why it's painted black down there. It's missing the original engine, trans and diff. It comes with some good parts but I wouldn't pay $7000. You need to see just how rust free it is first. Not having the original engine hurts its value and potential value. I'm not sure what it's worth. I'd strongly consider it for $3500-4000. It really depends on the rust. It's not like he went out of the way to show pics of the floors, inner fenders, battery tray, etc. Chuck

What a Difference a Day Makes with RedBird
I very recently went through something like this. The little cone filter on the fuel pump inlet port was clogged from debris in the gas tank. Cleaning that made all the difference in the world! Chuck

Problems leveling my 240z
Did you measure what I asked you to measure? We need to see some numbers. Maybe you have a 240Z strut assembly on one side and a 280Z on the other? Something is way off. You can also measure the strut mounting point in the hatch area. Make sure that the left and right are at the same height off the hatch floor. That's a long shot but you need to make sure that everything is in check. I wish you were closer. I'd love to have a look at it. Chuck

New Carpet Question for 240z
I haven't seen new carpet kits that have the tabs or the snaps. You'll have to transfer them over from the original carpet or have an upholstery shop do it. Even if you don't install the snaps or tabs the carpet still stays in place pretty well without them or glue. Chuck
