  1. You are not making a mountain out of a molehill by expecting a seller to do what he said he would do-I have done the same thing many times. Will

Sorry, If the rain holds off, I will get one today. Will
  3. The starter swap was popular, so you might have one with gear reduction! The gear reduction is also cheeper for some reason. Here is a picture of the gear reduction variety from Beck/Arney Will
  4. Here is my take on the questions I have an opinion on Buy a real turbo oil pump from Nissan, the after market is the NA pump because it fits both versions of the engine, and is cheeper! I have had good luck with aftermarket (rebuilt) water pumps, but I haven't replaced one in years! Use a ZX alternator (Carl posted the article for conversion of the regulator), or have the local alternator shop bump yours up-perfect fit and look, but higher output(usually you can specify), and usually less expensive. Use the 280ZX Turbo starter(82,83), it is gear reduction. The housing is shaped such that you can tell it has internal gearing. I will see about posting a picture tomorrow. Will
  5. I hope those Zs are on the street under their own power and presentable-lamps and all! WIll

What both of you probably have is a P90A that was rebuilt with P90 parts(the hyd. parts have been NLA forever) According to Nissan, all P90As left the factory Hydraulic. My master Nissan Mechanic said that even the dealers used the non Hyd. parts to rebuild the Hyd. head when the parts supply dried up. The differeces in the actual head casting between the P90 and the P90A allow the Non hyd. parts to fit and work on the hyd. head, but not the other way! Will
  7. It is probably in the crank angle sensor, or the distributor. You don't have a pick up coil, your distributor is really just another crank angle sensor-either the light source in either or both is out, or the ecm(or its wiring) has bitten the dust. Did you verify the coil is working and not open? if yes, Did you verify the coil is getting pulses(means the sensors and ecm are working)? if yes, Did you verify your wires? if yes, Did you verify (repalce or clean)your Plugs? If yes, the car should be running if the problem was truely primary ignition. Absolutely the best advice you will get anywhere... verify what is present in the car is what the car came with, and Get the specific Factory Service manual for what you have. The Digital ecm in the turbo cars is just too much fun to diagnose-it changed every year-without definitive procedures and answers held by the manual you will be and easy target for frustration!!! The average participant made or will make 3.73 upgrades counting 7 that made no upgrades-but we do not know if their cars were bought already upgraded! If we remove the seven that made no upgrades, the average upgrader made or will make 3.82 upgrades. What this poll tells us is that most people who took this poll upgraded drivetrain, the suspension, the brakes, the audio, rice parts, electrical system, seating, cooling, color, window tint, instruments, wipers, and last climate control. The really interesting thing to me is that on THIS forum, only 3% of those taking the poll thought their calssiczcar was perfect! What we don't know is whether the cars owned by those seven were modified by a PO, or are pristine. Purists seem to be massively in the minority! Unfortunately, there is not enough differentiation in the records of this poll to use cross reference statistics with any degree of certainty to see how many that did one thing also did something else. The latest poll address this. Will

MSA "Z parking only" sign, and a friendly cop named Guido! If it were a 350Z, I would suggest the theft prevention system that was installed in James Bonds Lotus.... But, I would rather have a dented 240Z.... Will

For not building a retro 240Z, Nissan sure spent some money building hype that would have been far more effective with a little more visual similarity! Think about the first reviews, ads, and the Nissan website-not to mention the "factory"(sorry Carl, Chris, and Mike) restoration program-when the 350Z came out-all of it was touting and building predominantly on the 240Z! Go through some magazines-it is true. If the car had even a passing visual similarity to the 240Z(and not the TT) the marketing machine would have been much more effective, and probably would have sucked more of us in too, instead of fairly effectively polarizing the Z community into those who lust after the 350Z, and those who think it is just ugly on wheels. At the curb the car should have looked at least related. Not a replica, but at least related. The trip to the Altell store I posted about in another thread (http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/showthread.php?t=11425&highlight=alltel+240Z post #7) pretty much backs up my opinion. Put a beautiful 240Z and a beautiful 350Z together on any street in America(or anywhere else the cars were sold), and the 240Z will get most of the attention. Every time I take out my previous 240Z I get stopped to talk about the car, people even ring the door bell to ask about it when the car is parked on the street. My nextdoor neighbor has noticed too, he has-and treasures-a 350Z, and by his own admission, has never been asked anything about his car-other than to move it! I think there would have been more people who might not have spent as much(money, time, and energy) on a restoration to be able to spend more money on a new set of wheels that evoked the same feelings as the rust bucket upside down in the garage, and I don't believe that it would have taken a sheetmetal copy to remind people of those feelings. Headlight buckets and the hatch profile, or the quarter windows with emblems/vents could have done it. Will

What elements does a 350Z have that tie it to the original Z car, What shows that it is a direct descendant of the 240Z?

  25. A car that was unmistakenly visually derived from the 240Z, not identical, but unmistakenly 240Z in its lineage-updated with all that we have learned in 30 years of what causes wind noise, front end lift, wiring issues, chassis stiffening, handling, breaking, making power and torque. All of the technology of the 350Z, but none of the ugly! The 240Z I am building, but infused with more current technology, and obviously the budget of a concept car to be made for mass production.
