  1. Come on Carl, it is only 90%.... Carl is right, new paint, new carpet, a tune up, and a good cleaning do not make a restoration. Crawl up under it, check for rust. take it to a mechanic(or better yet a local club member) and have it checked out. It could be a great buy, it might not be-have it checked out to be sure. Will

I think making them available in primer is OK, as far as I know they were available only in the Henry Ford situation-"any color you want as long as it is black." I don't think it will mater whether they are aluminum or steel, as MikeW pointed out, only the mounting holes break-they are the only points of stress, and almost always break from overtightening. The only difference between the doors other than being a mirror image, should be a pull on the passenger side that the drivers side usually did not have. Will

Ok, Here is the next installment-the TIG is waiting for parts so I can finish the floors, so I used today for restoring the quarter windows. There is a before and after shot of the right and left windows. 1) I took them apart. 2) Cleaned everything, 3) Polished the glass (with the Eastwood kit) to get rid of the slight scratches, and the water spots. 4) Stripped the old adhesive off with paint stripper 5) Buffed out the stainless 6) Replaced the glass to frame seal 7) Replaced all of the hardware with stainless steel 8) Did not use weather strip adhesive in putting them back together-I will finish the weatherstripping when the car is ready for them.

Almost! The door skins are the same, but the lock mechanisms changed with the 260-meaning the doors fit, but the locks do not match up to the post. get a door for a 240 or early 260, anuy you will have a bolt-on answer-otherwise you will have to modify a few things... Will.

I'd spring for a couple of pair for a 240Z. and even supply an OEM set(1972, series II, please return them) for mockup! For a little over a year, I have been experimenting with casting parts in plastic, but the heat the sun, my animal magnitism, or their composition, causes them to decompose too quickly to offer. pressed metal would be good-repainting takes a lot less time than recasting. 12. In looking at the Club CD(a very valuable tool by the way) it looks like there was a bolt, a spring, and a washer. Will

The panels are consistantly on ebay, and do go all the way to the top. the panel is hinged at the top on either side(your console should still have the receptical part of the hinge in it-it was molded in. I will see about finding or taking a picture this afternoon(wife took the camera to Grandmas...). Will
  14. Here is an update. I am still not happy with the light dispersion on any of the LED upgrades using off the shelf LEDS. After lengthy conversations with the manufacturer of the LEDS I use is working on an answer to the dispersion problem. The leds may come in a slightly different shape than standard pieces to accomplish the dispersion patern-still round, but not dome shaped. The paterns needed are different between the instruments and the exterior lights, and I am getting help on one of the two types at a time. The manufacturer is not developing an answer specifically for us, but rather a couple of different LED packages to address dispersion problems specific to the automotive industry. So this project is stalled (for me at least), until we see how committed they are to working out a new mold for a high despersion patern led. Will

The black switch is an aftermarket present from the P.O.(as is the washer that fills the hole it is in) The other switch is missing the plastice part of its paddle. Take a look at my gallery, My '72 fooled me into thinking there was very little rust, once the undercoating comes off, things can get a lot more serious in a hurry. Ed is right, few people can afford to pay someone else to do the kind of job we want done on our cars. Not many of the tasks require special skills, or expensive equipment(other than welding or frame work) that can't be borrowed or improvised. Most of what you will need is patience, an orderly place to work, and the ability to listen to someone who has been there before. Looking through the archives you will find the answers to most questions, and talking to the members, you may get more than an answer, you might have to buy someone something cold for lendingf a hand! The seat bolts to the seat are in the same place, the bolts to the car mounts are not. They are similar, not the same, but can be modified with out much drama. Will

I don't know about new ones, but used ones can be cleaned up pretty easily, and because they are not right on the floor, and are chromated, usually do not even have mentionable rust. I will be parting a '73 in the next month or so... Will

  21. Among the things I have done are four 137db sirens INSIDE the car that go off if the alarm is not turned off with in 5 seconds of entering the car-No one with an ear out for the police will be able to stay in the car when they go off! Will

I have been using the HP jornada 690 since it came out-more than 5 years, still runs great, faxes in and out, uses compaq flash cards, a true keyboard, and several accessories. When the batteries become NLA, it will be assimilated into one of the cars. WIll
