    Great Plates! Here is mine
  2. The welder is upto the job! If it does not come with a gas kit, get it, some solid wire, and have the tank filled. Flux core will do the job, makes lots of spatter(meaning cleanup), smoke, and ugly welds. With gas shielding, the welds can be much cleaner, prettier, you can see what you are doing much better and you are less likely to breathe bad fumes. Also buy some sheet steel(or use use some clean scrap) to practice on, spend several hours practicing before you jump into your projects, and if you don't weld often, be sure to practice before you weld again. WIll PS watch the video several times and practice with welder between.

The last build I saw from Boyds shop had bondo wiped all over it, no bumping metal to perfection, just get it close and fill with plastic. That was last week. economies of scale in skilled labor, cheep materialsm and completion time. I would be upset to pay that bill and find any bondo... Will
  4. I bought the same spoiler from the same people, it needs some prep work to be ready for installation and paint, but I have never recieved a fiberglass part that came in ready to go. I have installed quite a number of ground effects pieces on Zs. It is a good quality part that they knew would have to be sanded and blocked, so the finish is not wonderful, but the construstion is very good. Will
  5. Woa! There is a distinct and huge difference between upgrading several hidden(or relatively small or visually unnoticeable) performance parts, or respraying a car in need, and replacing virtually everything you see when driving in the drivers seat with parts straight from another car...Last time I checked, the choice of Dash and a Console did absolutely nothing at all for performance-infact that sounds more like an Interior Ricer (appearance or noise only pieces)upgrade than anything else. That said, It is your car, and you should do what ever makes you happy, but when you post in a forum on ClassicZcars.com about changing the very nature of the car we all adore for what it IS, you should not expect the idea to be popular. I don't think anyone would question whether the changes you are considering would be tough or expensive. I think they are just wondering why you would want to be "different" by copying something else that there are more being made of every single day in leu of leaving something alone that gets more rare, unique, and "different" every single day. I am happy for you to make your car what ever you want it to be, I am not critisizing anything you might do to or with your car. I am just pointing out if you were at the last Superbowl sitting on the Eagles side and actively cheering for the Patriots, you might have had the wrong expectation about how you would be leaving that stadium. You still were entitled to your opinion, but the 40 guys around you probably made sure you wore theirs home. That does not make it right or wrong, that is just the way it is. This site is about "Performance, Pride, and Preservation". Changing out most of the interior with another car really does not illustrate Preservation, Pride, or add to Performance. It stands to reason that your plans might not be really popular among many of the members here. That does not make them any less important you, nor does it make them wrong, heinous, or stupid, it just means you were not watching where you stepped. Good luck with your plans, I tried to lend you a hand by letting you know where some of the parts can be found and about what you might have to give for them, and I hope you get as much enjoyment out of your Z as I get out of mine! 6. I was going to suggest the same thing, then the Lizzard part of my brain thought-what, and not give you the opportunity to get some interior pieces, I think not... Will

  8. Harbor freight has an adaptor to allow any saddle based jack(with a 1" centering safety pin) to do double duty as a tranny jack for about $50. Their tranny jack is about $120. Will
  9. I agree with you Mike, but he said he was "interested in the dash and console." so I didn't get into the meat! Will

Gee, if that is only on video or film, and has to do with shutter speed, or if it is in person it has to do with the drug, speed! Will

That is a pretty good writeup, and even though it is written for selling Pro Max, does contain most of the reasons I chose the GM setup. Map, tunability, un-used channels for upgrades, data collection, cheep and readily available parts, COMPLETE technical manuals WITH excruciating and painful details, completely hacked, tuneableable in route, and more third party support than all of the other products combined. My conversion is taking so long because of the time required for documentation. I am writing it all up to make it duplicateable, and as easy as possable to get great results in both the visual and actual use aspects. Will

Stephen, You are right about changing things and making them more difficult to troubleshoot, but, I am doing my conversion to add tunability, and more important, the ability to go to ANY parts store and get components-try getting the AFM or any of the parts for a 75-83 efi system at a national parts store-much less a Mom and Pop! None of the parts stores in my area cary any of it in stock except the injector seals. Now add the cost factor in...Early EFI parts are expensive. The GM counterparts are not! By taking the time to make this conversion, I will have made the car massively more tuneable, cheeper to keep, and still looking pretty stock. I do aggree, if you want all of the goodies, just go buy a wrecked Oldsmobile Bravada, and move the entire engine and management system-it is easier to move a complete complicated system than it is to swap parts. The Bravada engine has all of the new technology goodies, and has very nice power curves, and is a 6!
  15. " I have a 78 280Z with the five speed, all stock, " from the first post-forget the modulator, a 5 speed aint got one! Will
  16. Replace your modulator valve, less than $20, and your problems will go away! WIll
