Worried....how do u protect ur z from being stolen
I have a buddy that produces nerve gas naturally-if we could just get it to quit eating paint, plastic, metal, and glass. He could fart in your car-just pay his travel expenses and for a meal from Taco Bell(he is waiting for the future as told in Demolition Man), drive him back to the airport, and the car would be safe from thieves!-For those of you worried about liability, his gas has no proven ill effect on human tissue, but is severly gasp, tear, and profanity inducing. Unless the thief caries a video camera-it is hard to prove those effects in court when there is not physical evidence or proof through testing that would hold up in court. I would not reccomend it for deterent when you are on a date or transporting a pitcher-she, he, or it wont allow any base hits after breathing that stuf. In College I had a roomate with a massively rusty 1967 Buick Special-the car was so rusty I had to hold the back window while he put the parkig decal on. He had another sticker that read: "If you value your life as much as I value this car, you will move on. Is this really worth trading your life for?" That car was never broken into, bumped, or ticketed for on campus parking violations. I was never sure if it was the rust, the sticker, or the fact that the owner was a Public Safety Officer(campus rentacop) that kept that piece of junk so safe! The less valuable the car appears, and the more time intensive or public the theft appears to be, the greater the chances the car will be left alone. An invisible alarm will get tested, a highly visible and sensable one will not. Think of it like dog poo, if you don't see it you probably will step in it. If you see and smell it(unless you have had a bad day, and drive a van or a crane) you won't! Will

The Gasket is made of rubber or something similar-I would think a suitable copy could be cut out of edpm, an inner tube, rubberized gasket material-btw you have a PM Will

Mirror - how does it come apart?
I could not find the one I forced apart, but... I think you best answer is to break the old glass, and remove it (this way you will not mar the housing prying it out), use a heat gun-or the sunshine on a hot day to warm the housing up, then fit the bottom of the mirro in the housing, and press the top in. It will snap inand be tightly held captive. Every time I have purchased using second chance, I have been able to leave feedback... Will

R-12 to R134a Retrofit
Ifr you really want to make this conversion, The ports on the compressor are a high and a low(suction). They are the same ports, just in a different place. There are "solder(even bolt) on on then tighten a screw, then remove the screw" fittings to add ports to lines(available from large plumbing houses and AC parts distributors), or replace your lines with those from a 77-78 Z that came standard with the fittings. 'Picked up my 280Z Today :D
Mimireg, For an explanation of the slop in a shifter and what to do about it, look here: http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/showthread.php?t=17243&highlight=shifter+bushings Here are current Ebay auctions for the bushings that are the most common cause of the slop-some in upgraded materials. There is a third bushing that goes on the end of the shifter, it occasionally creates an issue, but I could not find one on ebay. I would buy the delrin or the brass versions-they will be longer lived than the oem. Clean the area and replace the boot that seals the tranny too! One word about ebay-not everything there is cheeper than at the dealer-verify the part is not still availble and make sure it is not cheeper at the dealer-sometimes you will get a suprise! The last time I bought these bushings at the dealer, they were less than $2 a pair-that wasn't that long ago....If you don't already have a copy of the club CD, and a t-shirt,now is the time. The CD will give you part numbers and assembly drawings(A FSM is illustrated much better, but they are on the CD), The T-shirt will give you the sence that we(all of the members) are all behind you and ready to help when you can't get that little "E" sahped thingy off the clevis pin that holds the shifter on, and keep the bushings from coming out! Get a Factory Service Manual if you really fall in love with the car-it really shows the proper care and feeding of your car, and not eleven years worth of similar cars-there are differences between Zs- and the words "others similar" just don't do it for me... Will

Congratulations! On the shifting, $7 two grometts and 15 minutes and that slop is gone! With the Emergency Brake, you have found something that scares almost eveyone once! The key cyl for the hatch is probably worn-try lubricating it first, and if that doesn't work, take it out and to a lock smith with your key, and it can be fixed for less than $10! Will

Mirror - how does it come apart?
Here are the pictures, One of all the pieces, one of the crimp on the flag. The flag crimp folds back over the flag by an eighth of an inch or so all the way around-putting a mirror back in it without folding out the crimp and then folding it back would leave an awfull lot of unsecurred area around the mirror, allowing to find its own resonance, and ultimatels fall out, break or both. I have folded out one flag, and I am waiting for a replacement glass to try to reapply the crimp-it looks like so much fun! I did order two mirrors just in case. Will
