g-nose kit (plus car) on e bay
Pull the mold with the pieces corrected for assembly so they can be shipped in half and more easily put together by those without too much glass experience-saving shipping here too! Keep me informed please! Thanks, Will

280z quarter panels on 240z?
The interior of the panels are different as well, there is a distinct "floor" in the fender area is on the earlier cars and on the later cars the whole area is closed from behind-still useable though modification is required. Will

Tension adjustments are inside, pop the glass out, and tightening the mechanism is easy-instructions for popping the glass are in my red dot restoration article in the technical articles forum. Will

2007 Z National Convention (ZCON) Info
We had a severe thunderstorm around 10:30 friday morning-it was raining like crazy and blowing around where I was-obviously more wind at the house-and evidently that is what picked up my things. Looking around last night I found the tarp in a neighbors back yard, and the poles lead me to it. This morning I spoke with one of the city crews that was clearing drains and picking up the bigger stuf in the road, and yesterday afternoon, they did pick up some sheetmetal off the street outside of my yard. I found a good smack to one corner of the roof and a fried digital camera as well. We will still be headed to Daytona Sunday, but with no car entered, we will be leaving sometime Wednesday. One less thing to keep me from taking pictures at the show for the site! Carl I hate to hear about your car-but I must admit I am glad to be able to see it in Daytona! I still had detailing the engine, and installing the interior to finish up... Will

2007 Z National Convention (ZCON) Info
Well, it appears the powers that be in the universe want me to head to Daytona in a Volvo. I laid out my hood, and several other bady panels Wednesday evening to sand and polish them tonight. Upon returning from work I find my pole barn (a portable unit from Harbor Freight) gone. I can see-or rather can't see-the roof from the front and side yards as I drive up. So in disbelief, I head through the dark house(no power) to the back yard. No hood, no headlight buckets, no front valences, a missing spook, and a broken front glass everything else soaked through and through. I have been wandering the neighborhood, and have found several things, and picked up my mess from neighbors yards, but have found none of the sheet metal. I have replacements on hand for most of it, but no time to do the panel prep and repaint the car-dark blue metal flake doesn't show well on a car(at least not with my technique) if not painted together. My power was also smacked, I have three phase to the garage, and the high leg shorted to one of the other legs, smokeing several batterys and chargers, and my compressor motor. No one was hurt-and no other damage, but I will be in a Volvo with no trailer in tow for Daytona. Will

Online tire purchase experience?
Picking up the tires went smooth-other than the distribution center has no Tire Rack sign-just a big new unidentified building! I found out that they will mount and balance at that location too, but I had already made those arrangements... Will

Libre wheel rehabilitation
I just used Ye Ole Wheel Shop, 7281 Washington Boulevard ElkRidge, MD. 21075 to restore my Enkei 92s, they came back looking mighty nice, mirror polished rim, painted center-$560 for the set including some filling, mirror polishing, painting the centers, and return shipping. I'll see about posting a pic in the morning-they are in the trailer at the moment, and it is raining...again! WIll

Recommended hardware to mount spook?
Arne, Dans post prompted some more thought on the spoiler and the results of its mounting. The spoiler was mounted by the PO when the '72 was pretty new. When I took the spoiler off, I did think that it was a wee bit strange that 12 holes got 6 bolts, and now that I think about it, the washers I removed were small and the sheet metal around the mounting holes was heavily distored with no impact damage to the spoiler. I took the car apart so long ago, I had forgotten that I spent over an hour with a dolly and ammer straightening the pulls. Based upon that, I will be drilling six more holes and adding the missing six bolts when I reassemble. Will

Doing the Dragon's Tail
A little farther South the same week is the ZCCA National convention... There is just something about having a twenty-first birthday on the beach in Daytona...at a Z convention! The Dragon is a great ride, if you don't make it to Daytona instead, I know you'll have a great time at the Dragon! In any event I hope you have a terrific birthday! Will

To buy a Scarab or not to buy a Scarab?
I agree with Chris, get pics of the scarab proof(emblems, documentation, etc) It sounds more like a put together car resembling a scarab than a genuine one. Will

Zacs Z stirred up my curiosity- What's too much for a parts car?
My rule of thumb has been if I can make more than three times in easily removeable parts sales as the car costs, it is worth it. Now if the parts car has something I need for my own car...well, that's gravy, or, in some cases, a reason to throw out the rule of thumb...(Rare competition parts or early series 1 parts...) Will

Recommended hardware to mount spook?
Even though there are 12 mounting holes in mine it was mounted with six fasteners as Goose52 said I have replaced them with stainless 1/4" with stainless fender washers and stainless lock nuts. I'll snap and post a pic(off and waiting for paint). The holes used were the four outside of the ducts, and #2 and #4 in the back five between the ducts. Will

280z engine and tranny
Don't waste your time with a four barrel and intake, do this once and do it right! Get a set of SUs and an appropriate manifold and be through. Ztherapy has everything you need, if you want a less expensive alternative, get a set of SUs from the classifieds, ebay, and the rebuild kit and tape from Ztherapy and rebuild them yourself-if the bushings are shot let Ztherapy replace them with bearings.. Your A Z was made for equal length runners, not two sets of different length ones... WIll

What's it worth?
I am almost afraid to give you the answer lest you misinterpret the answer as an attack, but, at least one L24/l26 engine is on ebay almost all of the time, and rarely ever sells. Taking the manifolds and carbs means the parts that would interest most people are not bart of the equasion anymore. Most people who want an early engine want the right one for their car(numbers matching) in addition, the shipping is pretty high. You will probably do better at the metal salvage yard than anywhere else, and they won't be interested in hearing it run. This has been my personal experience, I hope yours will be different, but I doubt it. I have a good selection of engines, and the only ones that continue to get interest are the L28 and L28et... Will

Should I use an early hatch on a '72?
I have never seen anything but modified Zs on Barret Jackson-I doubt any member of their typical staff would have any clue what would make up a "museum piece" Z. They are a somewhat portable used car car lot, and are after money. Originality, and modification are no issues to them-as long as the car sells. If you want to impress the right "crowd", building a 300 point ZCCA stock class winner would do that, and mixing and matching parts won't get you there(though it won't keep you from 300 points in the modified classes). Unless someone has a head cold, "snotty" won't come into that crowd. Make the car what you want it to be, garage/trailer queen, grocery getter or anywhere in between. If she brings a smile to your face when you think of her, and an ear to ear, pulse quickening grin when you're behind the wheel, any argument about what you did to your car from anyone is lost. Will

Should I use an early hatch on a '72?
I'm using an early hatch and maybe glass on my 72. Not my original intention, but the later hatch I had was severely tweaked and though looking good would not fit the hatch opening well even with "extra effort". I tried my early hatch, and she lined up like she had been there for 35 years... I like the look of the vents, and though I will probably use a later glass(the car is being built to be a driver), I considered using a non defroster glass. It depends on what you are doing with your car. Mine is going to be modified, so mixing year models(and knowing what part came on what year) adds interest, keeps rare parts in view, and does not detract from the car as it would in a true restoration.
