  1. I was lucky and got an early alternator. I wish I could have taken the free shell too. https://portland.craigslist.org/mlt/pts/d/71-datsun-240z-parts-free/6658491752.html
  2. Tap the bolt with a small hammer to shock it. Heat the aluminum around the stuck bolt with a propane torch (not MAP that will melt the aluminum). ~ 2min. Wire brush the margin where the alu and the bolt threads meet then spray penetrating oil on the margin. Repeat twice. It should come out easy
  3. Possibly an over-zealous refresh. Here is a photo before the refresh: Here is another (with green distributor cap too)
  4. HLS30-00013 has flat timing chain inspection plate too! @kats
  5. You can use magnets with the copper. Drill some holes in the epoxy and install magnets flush with one side using epoxy. Or you can buy: https://www.eastwood.com/4-and-8-in-magnetic-copper-butt-weld-backer-set.html
  6. I was just at an o'reilly's and they had a two grit kit https://www.oreillyauto.com/detail/b/versachem-5169/engine-parts---mounts-16774/assembly-lube---valve-compound-17697/161f9b3092dc/versachem-valve-grinding-compound/13209/4776635
  7. I gave them the ones from blue (below) that were rusted with stuck pistons. I think most shops don't care if the cores are an exact match. The brembo rotors survived the 12 year sleep very well.
  8. It is a 1985 Toyota "Pickup"

  10. FYI I put new 4 piston Sumitomo calipers from Napa on Blue a month ago with no interference. Did you get yours sorted?
  11. Triples too! Very nice build... Shocking before and after. Most motivational post I have seen! GREAT STUFF!!!
  12. try 30wt then 80wt oil in carb damper and stomp on it from 1st gear. See if the power changes.
  13. Mark I don't think it is too far off the mark (pun). In his suggestion: The exposed annular fuel ring will be 1mm higher so it will be slightly richer due to less energy needed to lift the fuel, but the narrower taper of the needle 1mm higher will either have no effect or slightly contribute a mild leaning as the exposed annular ring will be narrowed. 2.5 turns down is simply a recommended starting point for a factory fresh stock 240z at sea level at 20C. There are also recommendations for changes to this height for altitude and temperature. From experience, there are additional changes in fuel height and in needle type to accommodate engine volume changes, compression changes, cam changes, etc. Just adjust until plugs look good and driving under all loads (idle, city cruise, highway cruise, acceleration) is adequate. In addition to changing needles, you can put weights and stronger springs in the carb bodies to make the pistons rise less for the same engine vacuum. This can help tune towards WOT from cruise.
  14. Thanks guys! I'll hook it up and see what happens. The documentation accompanying said that it was just a switch that activated on very low oil pressure or very high oil pressure. No mention of pressure-to-resistance feature for driving the oil gauge.
  15. Thanks Steve. I still need one. If anyone has a used 78 3 prong switch please pm me ?
  16. My 78 280z rock auto special is a boat anchor... only two prongs and it simply switches on high pressure and low pressure. It is not what Nissan made (sensor output and switch on low pressure)... beware... rock auto lies.
  17. Hi Zd, It is yours. Just send me a personal message with a reasonable offer and shipping details and I will get shipping costs from Canada post. btw I was just in Lisbon and Porto a few months ago.

  19. Bought a new windshield for Blue, $200 CAD.
  20. You can coat the insulation with shaving cream to reduce the asbestos dust or soak it with lots of water. Be careful. A friend just died from breathing it when he worked dismantling a Royal Navy ship as a summer job.
