  1. Did you point the sealing lip toward the inside of the engine? Or put a little silicone sealer on the rear main cap?
  2. I bought the springs for my 78 directly from Eibach in 1999. They're right down the hill from me. I wonder when they stopped selling them directly. I presently looking at their springs and camber kit for my GTO.
  3. Actually, the model is a 67.5 SR (no L)

Rather strange that a mechanic would remove the cam cover and screw with the chain/sprocket just to set the timing.............

I used heat like Andrew but I used a heat gun and there was no gap.

Chain stretch could make the timing appear to be a tooth off. You might need both a chain and a tensioner.
  7. I forgot that you do have a SPL311. Mine was a 70 with 2 liter crank, rods, and pistons, the carbs and five speed from a wrecked 69 2000 parts car I had, and some NLA Datsun comp goodies like the Solex manifold. It was a fun car! The die cast one actually has Mikini-Solex carbs!
  8. Chris, is that the Autoart Datsun Roadster? I've been looking for one of those. They're pretty pricey. I acutally owned the 'real thing' at one point though mine was a 1600.

Who's acting like the question is hard to answer? More like not one really cared about such a vague/unresearched question back in 2008. The thread was dead for over two and a half years until you posted your anecdotal advice and a link to hybridz neither of which really answer the question either.

Mike, they are 14". It may not be clear at the rim but look at the tire.

Well the 512BBi and Testarossa didn't use a 4 cyl either but I'm fairly certain that wasn't xray's point.......

Okay. The function of that method must be a little different than using my power bleeder because I never have to go back and pump the pedal.

He's up in the Antelope Valley/ Palmdale Ca. area. I went up there few years ago looking for parts for my 810. It's basically just a junkyard with many other cars and parts for sale besides the Datsuns. From what I recall, if it hasn't changed, there might be a handful of cars there worth $1000 ea. but not 24 of them...............

Why do you need a helper after you pull the vacuum? That's essentially what my power bleeder does and all I do at that point is close the bleeder and I'm done or move on to the next wheel for brakes until I've done all four. At that point, the clutch or brakes, depending on what I'm working on, is/are done without pumping the pedal.

Ever since I tried a power bleeder a few years ago, I wouldn't do any kind of bleeding job without one. It requires a compressor but it's the only way to go. It's a one man opertation, it has a resivor that keeps the fluid level up, no pedal pumping, and you could even do a complete fluid replacement with it if necessary.

Signature links unrelated to site like "buy now gold', odd syntax, vague/random posts, location (i.e. USA rather than a specific place), several posts in a short time frame usually to old threads immediately after joining the site, etc.

I doubt that jamescuck has ever driven Road America. He's a spambot. (Unless Road America is in Pakistan;))
  19. I have. The locksmith I use did them without an damage.
  20. Now I wish that I had just left it alone:paranoid:
  21. I didn't think it was a mistake. To me, 'keying to the existing locks' is the same thing as 'setting to your existing keys'. It's really not quite that expensive to do one lock if you just hand the key and lock to the locksmith. The last time I had that done it was about 20 bucks per lock.
  22. Don't those two statements essentially mean the same thing or is it just me?.......
  23. Never said it wasn't worth the effort; I was just going by the title of the thread.......
  24. Isn't Dallas, TX about 1400 miles or so from Toronto? Just sayin.......
  25. Not about you at all. The other members got it right. I was responding to a post by the now banned shill 'John-Sparks'. With his actual post gone, the focus of my post was lost except for the quote in Gary's post (#117) And the lost contunuity caused by the deletion of that post even caused torker to react to my comment in a way that it was not meant......
