  1. Go pallnet for the rail. Get the 11mm oring style and buy stock Cressida injectors (198cc) for similar stock performance but will allow you to swap them out easily later if you upgrade the ecu. Clean, upgradable and affordable.
  2. You can read my thread for my process. A TIG welder is needed to weld the holes up. I would also preheat the part to allow offgassing for a better weld. Any cast part welds poorly but you can still get a decent result. Especially if you are planning on powder coating.
  3. Sure miss seeing new pics of this build....
  4. Also consider if you are doing a "refresh" and doing any performance mods that you will require an aftermarket ECU to tune the engine. The stock unit will not work outside of the stock performance parameters. You can still add "shine" and cleanup the rat's nest on the intake without altering performance...

More progress tonight... Internal frame coating on and waiting for install!
  6. 200mph tape! Exactly as it was described to us at the Reynolds museum where the car is housed.

I have a rotisserie that is bolted to the bumper shock mounts. I also have tripod stands under the body sections for additional support. The frame rails have not been an issue as I did them one at a time too.
  8. Sandy MacTaggart was a racer of that same time period in Alberta... but I am not sure if he had the 240 at that time. I have seen records of him racing Mini's in the early 70's

    The remnants
  10. wheee! posted a post in a topic in Build Threads
So I am back on track and have removed the remnants of the passenger front frame rail. Long night of spot weld removal and strategic smashing...

I'm in year two on the rotisserie and still not done metal work ...
  12. Why are there never deals like this in Canada...
  13. If you look at the second pic I posted of the mounts welded back in the car, you can see the bolts threaded in at the 45 degree point front and back. So I guess the early 75/76 280's were unique too! The interesting thing is that the top mounting holes are there, but no capture nuts inside for a top mount rail.... So a universal mount could be made that has a mounting points in both locations! Just going to pop this in here to avoid any more clutter in OP's thread... ZCarSource frame rails for early 280Z's. They are collapsed in the pictures, but they are the same as mine.
  14. Now make them in white face! I finished welding up my rocker panels ends. One old donor piece (driver side) and one fabricated piece I made. Now just need to clean up those welds!

Double the time allowed for each phase. Then when it takes twice as long as that you won't be disappointed.... as much.
  16. Second set I think. I will look tomorrow. I think they are different in that the bolts are going in on a 45 front AND back on mine.

Would be curious as well to hear sound clips, but regardless, a resonator could be added to "muffle" the noise if required. Helmholz style or plain shoot thru.
  18. O RLY? ..... 9/75 production 280Z
  19. Well you've seen my thread... lots more where that came from.

Got the part fitted up and tacked into place. This will do nicely! The part mirrors the other side quite well.
  21. Need I show you more?
  22. They look great. So much easier than the 280 pans with the compound curves around the catalytic converter on the driver side.

    Nicely done!

That tank should sell easy! I had a heck of a time finding a 280 gas tank! Good deal for someone!
