Bad starter?... car will not start
Errr, I called Z barn about the (+) battery cable and the guy said he only sells good used parts, and even then he didn't have a (+) battery cable that was in good condition. I also called my local Nissan dealer, and he acted like he had one, but it wasn't in stock. He called me back and said that he checked the inventory of all the listed Nissan dealers around country and nothing came up. I can see that this is going to be a wild goose chase. I will probably settle for a autoparts store cable . Oh well, I thought it would be cool to have both oem cables. Ben

Z32 Tails on 240Z
Amen Gav. When I first accuired my Zed I wanted to do all these mods. About 1-2 months later I wanted to leave it just the way it was. Over a year later, the only mod that I have done is the clock. The rest of the money has gone into maintaining her. Errr, but I sure do love driving her. It is a great feeling that I am sure all you guys know very well. Lachlan, when are you going to get another Zed? When you get out of school? Hehehehe. Ben:classic:

Z models
Those tomica cars can get really expensive. I have about ten with boxes and I paid way to much for a few of them. They are quite cute though.

260Z for Sale
That sounds great Alex! I am not in a rush to get a set of steel wheels, but if I find a deal, then I will go after them. Just tell me when and if you don't need that spare any more and I would be glad to take it off your hands. Ben

260Z for Sale
I see. Alex, I have seen your car in person before when I was at the 2003 Z's by the bay show. The black 240 with the aggressive stance, shaved bumpers, and MR2 seats(?). Now you are going to go rotary. Your car will be pretty wild. Is it going to be turbo charged? What kind of power is it going to make? I guess your car will be a lot lighter with the smaller engine. Good luck with it. Ben

OT: Tutto Italiano 2004
Oh man, those are some beautiful cars there Lachlan. I am a huge fan of the Ferrari F40. I have been in love with that car since childhood. 478 hp on a TTV8, Kevlar body, dual gas tank, no roll up windows(on early models), no radio, no ac, knock off wheels, and a 200+ top speed. This is my kind of car. p.s. I was hoping to see a Stratos, another one of my favorites. Thanks for the link. Ben:classic:

Braided cloth radiator hose
I have pictures and the factory brochure of the early 260 and the hoses are all of the cloth braided type, but they seem a little darker in color than the 240 ones. Would this hose be accurate for my early 260? Ben

FS: SSR MKIII 14 x 9.5
Talk about JDM cool. Those are nice, but more for the ae86 crowd. There would be major flaring involved either way. These are very sweet wheels. Ben:classic:

Bad starter?... car will not start
I will definately tell you guys if I find the positive battery cable. I am going to call around local Nissan dealers. It is probably a lost cause, but maybe I will get lucky. I am also going to call Z barn. Ever heard of them before? I did buy the negative cable and it was 46USD. I hope it is not a whole lot more than that. Ben

Bad starter?... car will not start
Well, that was faster than I thought. I just called Chloe at Midwest Z and I ordered the parts. This is going to be my weekend project. She didn't have the positive cable, only the negative. Does anyone know where I could buy an oem Positive battery cable? Thank you in advance, Ben P.S. I didn't know this, but if you ever buy parts from midwestz.com mention that you are a member on 240z.org and you will get 10% off!

Bad starter?... car will not start
Thanks Mike for mentioning the battery. The more I thought about it the more I thought it was a draining battery as well because there was enough power for the headlights and radio, but not enough for the starter motor, and it looked pretty old. I took the battery out and had my local Sears test it and sure enough it was a bad battery. So, I bought a Die-Hard with a 3 year warranty. Now, I am going to phone Chloe and get new battery cables, tray, rod, and the battery frame. Both of the cables and the frame are corroded pretty bad. I will keep you guys posted. Thanks for everyones help, Ben

Factory restored Z
Hi Vicky, you are too kind. If you could, just pop one off to check. If the date is one month before or the same month and year as the production date on the door jam, I would say they match. Of course a couple of months before the door jam date, they would probably match as well. hehehe, I have mags and I am trying to track down the steel wheels. Take care and thank you Vicky, Ben

260z Vin#'s and production info
Thomas, that is interesting about the sweedish cars. Too bad one was wrecked, and I could not imagine a Zed with Thunderbird tail lights. Chris, where are you getting that information, just out of curisiosity? I am not sure how many Us spec 260z pace cars were made, but I do know of one that was RLS30-000020 according to zhome.com.

260Z for Sale
Lachlan, I was under the impression that the Australlian and other export Z's besides the US had a car that was very similiar in weigth to the 240z. I did not phrase it right before, but I meant the export 260 besides the the US spec version. Did the Australlian 260's get the side intrusion bars? Ben

260Z sitting for 20 years
It is hard to tell the condition of the car from the pictures, but the hood sure looks straight. Is this car silver? Anyways, the carbs will be nice once tuned up. Take care and good luck, Ben ps. more pics please.

260Z for Sale
260z are beautiful cars as well, and the export 260z's are even superior to the 240 performance wise because they were just as light, but with a bigger engine and the good carbs. Don't be dissing the 260, I just might cry:cry: . Ben

parts can i take off on the 73
I have heard not to remove the carbon canister because you will get worse gas mileage if you do. I removed the EGR, the emissions pump, and a bunch of other stuff. It really smells. If your emissions equip works then I would just leave it. Ben

260z Vin#'s and production info
Okay, I know this a little unfair to the Aussie's and othere countries, my apologies, but for all the 260z owners thats cars were produced in 1973-1975 I would like to know your Vin#, production date on door jam for the US cars, and wether your car is an early or late 2/2 or 2-seater. I have always been curious on this and no one has ever done this. If there is/are any 240z details on your car that were in transition if your car is a 1973 also state them ie; 240z bumpers, wood handle and knob, etc.. This is just out of curiosity. My Car: Vin#: RLS30-034436 Door jam date: 5/74 Topy designation: 4/74 Seatbelts: right: 1973 left: 1974 everything on my car is from the 260z since my car was right in the middle of the production of the early 260's here in the US. I believe that the late 260z's in the US started production in September. Maybe we can solve this one or come close to it if anyone has a later model made earlier than 9/74. Thank you in advance, Ben:)

260Z sitting for 20 years
That is awesome that the 260 you are interested in was made in 1973. That is a really early one. I am curious what the vin# is. My 260z was built in 3-5/74. I am not exactly sure of the build date since my spare says 4/74, my door jam plate says 5/74, but one of my seatbelts was made in 1973 and the other has 1974 on it. What color is the 260z? One last question, I promise. Did/ do you have a BMW 2002 turbo? Those are the rare ones. Ben:)

Factory restored Z
Vicky, no matter what I say about factory Zcars being restored beautifully, your car is definately one of them. I think you made a great choice with making it a sunny day car and keeping the toyo's and steel wheels nice. I have a few questions for you. 1) Did your car come with the steel wheels and caps from Pierre? If they did, do the topy dates on the wheels match the production date of the car? These are just out of curiosity questions. Someday I hope to join the old club of oem restored Z's like you and many others on this forum and around the world. Take care and snag that cloth radiator hose that is on ebay for your zed. Ben

Factory restored Z
Hey Chris, I think you should restore your Z to better than factory condition with cloth braided hoses, steel wheels with matching topy dates (Watanabes to put on and off), with the original steering handle, and all the early goodies. I think it would be extremely difficult to replicate the flaws that the factory made (not impossible), but also not accurate because you would redoing flaws that were made from machines and fast production. I know you are a big buff on Nissan history and you want to make your car a historically piece, and with the vin# that you have it already has that right, but the rest of the Z's are pieces of history as well. I am just rambling now, but I think no matter what you do with your car whether it be recreating the flaws from the factory or making it better than original it will turn out to be a masterpiece. I just hope you don't add the momo steering wheel, the euro bumpers, and the Watanabe's. I am sorry I am critiquing, I am just throwing out my opinion. The wats could be used for weekend drives and photo shoots. Hehehehe. I'll get off my soapbox now. Take care, Ben

Braided cloth radiator hose
And you said they are impossible to find Chris. Here it is, a braided cloth radiator hose for that oem, Factory restored Z. I hope one of you guys get this. This is probably the hardest to find cloth hose out there. When I see when of these under the hood of a Zed I am pretty impressed. I would like to get it for my car, but I have other things that I am planning on purchasing for my car. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=7903551848&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT Good luck, Ben
