As for right now im thinking of rebuilding the L28, street cam, higher compression flat top pistons, polished head, and triple webers. But that could all change, we will see..

Yes, I have considered leaving the patina because I thought it looks pretty cool. I will definitely be putting on the 240 bumpers, and replacing the wheels with either panasports or watanabes. Here in Colorado the emissions testing stops at 75 and older so im good there. I still have a lot of research to do before deciding what to do with the motor. Thanks for the suggestions!

240Z vs. 280Z
I definitely want to drive it as much as possible. I think I will keep going on the 280 as planned. Thanks for all your responses!

240Z vs. 280Z
I like this idea. Since this is my first restoration project, the 280 can be my "learning" car then I can do a 240 later on if I can. Hmmm...now if I can just convince this to my wife.

New owner of a 78 coupe
WOW, I love that color. I might be doing a similar color when I get mine painted. I think the silver with polished lip would look the best with that color. The silver will really pop against that dark grey. Thats just me. Im not a fan of dark centered wheels with polished lips.

240Z vs. 280Z
That makes sense. I will be making it as original as possible, but with upgrades to the motor, suspension, and brakes. I want to drive it on weekends, cruises and to some shows.

I will be doing a resto-mod. Mostly original with a few upgrades in suspension, wheels, and a little more pep in the motor. I plan on keeping it for awhile and driving it mostly on weekends, cruises, and a few car shows.

240Z vs. 280Z
Thanks for all your replies, I do realize that unfortunately with either car I will put more into it than what it will be worth. I am ok with this as I plan on keeping it but just dont wanna be kicking myself later I guess. Maybe im thinking too much about it.

240Z vs. 280Z
I recently purchased a '75 280Z fairly cheap to do a restoration. Since then i've been scouring the internet and forums researching as much as possible and I quickly found that the 240's (especially the early years) are the more desirable car. So before I go dropping 20k or so into my 280, would it be more wise to just find a 240 instead? I love my car and it has minimal rust damage and I would like to think that I wont sell it, but would the 240 be worth a lot more money restored? Just wanted to get your opinions, thanks.

280Z from Colorado
Hello everyone. I have recently purchased my first 280Z and wanted to introduce myself. Ive had a couple 300ZX and have always wanted an S30. I have big plans to restore her to her former glory. It is a 1975 280Z 4 speed manual. Color code 214 dark brown with black interior. The body is in decent shape just needs new lower fenders replaced and 1 small hole in the drivers floor pan. Also the inner fender area above the frame rails have the typical Z rust. Battery tray isnt too bad just surface rust. The previous owner started sanding down the car and primed the rusted areas, but it will need some major restoration. My plans are: Strip down and disassemble to the point where I feel comfortable putting back together. Media blast Replace rusted metal areas Paint and new undercoating Reassemble with new or restored parts/hardware Motor will be sent out for rebuild New interior installed New wheels, brakes, suspension, glass Piece of cake, right??? here are some pics of the day I bought it. Let me know what you guys think!
