You might want to try this place, it is in southwest Fort Worth. It seems to mainly be a shop, but they have a mini-boneyard off to the side with tons of rusted out cars. There were only maybe 5 or 6 240Zs there when I went maybe 6 months ago. They had a ton of Z31s and a fair amount of 280ZXs and some 280Zs. They seem to be willing to just let you go pick over the cars and find what you are looking for. I was just looking for an early seatbelt assembly so it was very easy for me to find. I have the same problem. When I first got my car the reverse light switch had the leads torn off so I got a used replacement from Zbarn, IIRC. When I swapped them out I started to have a lot of resistance when I first went to put it into reverse, but once I have put it into reverse I can put it in and take it out of reverse freely. The resistance usually doesnt happen again until the next day or so of not driving it. I haven't ever seen the inside of my transmission, but I'm guessing it's just an old reverse light switch with some gummed up oil or something inside giving some sticky movement. MSA has them listed as 20 bucks(i'm assuming they're new), So I might just buy a replacement eventually. This may be your problem, maybe you could try taking it out and cleaning it?

Seems bogus to me, I looked at the 3 different english translations for the Quran listed on this site : http://www.islamicity.com/mosque/quran/ 9:11 in each has absolutely nothing to do with what is posted above. Seems like someone is having some fun... Probably the same situation as those "creative" nostradamus translations/rewordings to make his writings "predict 9/11"
  5. Hate to be a "bench racer," but... http://zhome.com/History/zcarperf.html - scroll down to 280Z(most of these are NOT stock I imagine) and http://webpages.charter.net/gearhead/delsol.html - Has the "stock performance" stats listed as found by some magazine. Probably no contest... Even so, I wouldn't bother making some sort of grudge match out of the situation. Just let an idiot be an idiot, challenging him would just be childish IMO.

Yeah, I think I could start my Z with a screwdriver sometimes... I can even pull the key out of the ignition while it is running and it keeps goin.
  7. How much would you expect a shop to charge for doing this? Has anyone in the club had this done? I searched the gallery and forums and didn't come up with anything. Andrew
  8. I've heard/read about people swapping everything you listed except the seats. Sounds like you got a great deal in my book!!
  9. Time for me to be the forum necromancer! I just bought a pair of the JDM tail lights (from Chloe at MidwestZ.com, very good service!!!) and I was wondering if anyone ever found some sort of substitute socket for that top center location? I would like to use that spot if at all possible, but have nothing to fit into it. Maybe a socket that was used in another nissan car/truck? Complete harnesses for both lights from Japan seems like they would be expensive items here in the states. Has anyone bought the aftermarket tail light gaskets from Victoria British, and how do they compare with the genuine nissan gaskets? Andrew

I was able to play it fine, gspot read the video stream as being divx 5.0, you might have an older divx codec installed if you are having trouble. http://www.divx.com/divx/ Cool vid though! Andrew

I'm looking for some complete lap belt assemblies(working retractors) from a 72, (or maybe just the drivers side since the passenger side is fine)

Victor, You might try getting some foam baffle type cover for the microphone, sort of like the microphones mounted on motorcycle helmets for the riders to talk to each other.

Does anyone have firsthand experience with that 303 stuff? http://www.303products.com/main.php?infopage=protectant
  14. I wonder, has anyone ever found a good swap-out on the temp gauge internals for something more accurate? A digital gauge(or aftermarket for that matter) looks very out of place in a 240z!
  15. Agreed, it feels like you have no real connection with the car. An automatic is ok for a family sedan or a truck, but in my opinion, you would have to be nuts to want an automatic in a sports car you planned on driving for fun in anything but a straight line.

I'm pretty new to working on cars so i'm kinda curious, what is the advantage of adjusting the valves while the engine is hot? If you adjust them to the correct "cold specs" is it going to be as good as a quick job(before the engine cools too much) adjusting them to the "hot specs?"

Thanks for the replies guys, I will try out what you guys suggested. I am really looking forward to working on this once the summer semester is over. I think i'm probably going to spend most of my next paycheck on getting myself setup with some good metric craftsman tools, they have a 140 piece metric mechanic set that seems like a good start. I'm tired of these taiwan-made tools i've been using over the years! None of the sizes ever seem to be quite as snug as the few craftsman pieces I have around, and they certainly aren't near as durable. Andrew

I bought a rebuilt e88 with new guides, steel seats and everything. It has no cam, cam towers, no rockers fit to it so I was planning on moving those parts from another e88 (taking care to remember what rocker came from where). I was reading up and all the manuals I have recommended marking the cam tower position since they have to be fit in an exact position, but I don't really have access to the kind of tools they were recommending if these marks are not there:stupid:. I may just take both heads to a shop and ask them to do it. How much do you think that should cost to do so I don't get ripped off? Or is there any way for me to do this on my own? Andrew

Since you have a 72 the webbing of the lap belt would be a PITA to replace, so I guess you are stuck with dyeing it there. You could probably take the shoulder segment to some upholstery shop and have them replace it with something that looks pretty original though. Andrew

  24. I also like the members for the same reasons carguyinok gave. A lot of other forums have the equivalent of a guy who only owns/drives a ford pinto giving you his opinion on what its like to own a ferrari 250gto. About the chat, can the channel be somehow accessed with an IRC client? I would like to idle in there, but it's a pain to leave that browser window open waiting for someone to join in, especially when noone is in there at the time. I already idle in a lot of channels with my irc client, so it would be pretty convenient. I think a lot of other members would find it useful to be able to leave an irc client running (for those with an always-on connection), to go and check out what was going on while they were out working on their Z. Andrew
