  1. Thanks Chas for the info! Sent from my iPhone using Classic Zcar Club mobile
  2. Finished Welding tranny mount. Fitting test. a bit touching with tranny. I need to grind the edge. by the way, which way is front?
  3. Now mechanical is OK. I started cleaning tranny case. Taking hot tub. over night. grind sharp edge Masking it. and paint it. I notice peach tree in my back yard grew up too much. Trim it while waiting for paint dry and finished.
  4. When I installed 71b Bell house, it was so tight to shift on 1st and 2nd gear. I compare with 71C and 71B bell house. Just enlarge to 16mm hole is too tight. I noticed there is some space for each rod. So, I taper cut the red section. It now easier to shift.
  5. It's been awhile. Finally I re-start working on this. Remove bell house of 71C tranny and try to remove bearing. AS Zed Head mentioned, it really hard to pull bearing since there is no space for puller. At first, philip driver to open up a bit space.. Then, use hammer to open up more space... Finally, use puller to remove bearing. installation of 71b bearing is no problem.
  6. Thanks Chas! This is excellent quality products! My '75 280z fit perfect bolt location. I need clean the threads to remove paints...
  7. Hi Chas, Long time! Looks really good! I'm interested in Rear bumper brackets. Do you still have a pair?

I missed Blackdragon closing sale. Does anyone know where I can find just squeegee parts? Z Car Source does not have any in stock. http://www.zcarsource.com/door-upper-molding-rubber-seal-240z-260z-280z-70-78-new_8_56661_197483.html I'd like to follow Dave's instruction to replace squeegee.

My purpose of this project is minimum change of re-wiring to improve car. If you want to re-wire everything,..... yeah, it's nice to do so. I defer to some who is willing to do so :-)

ryn004, What's the purpose for? Is there any advantage? Adding headlight relay close to battery will increase brightness of headlight. Same to starter relay. But, I don't see any advantage to re-wiring fuel pump, EFI relay.

10A fuse should connect to other side of IGN. I connect to fuel gauge/calibar/door.

Keep trace diagram and simplified how I should connect '77 Voltmeter replacing with '75 ammeter. 1. Connect Black and Black line on Voltmeter. Both goes to Ground. 2. Add bullet male connector for Green/White line on Voltmeter. 3. Extend White/Red line to fuse box and connect to IGN after fuse. I might just connect W/R, W, and G together to fuse box that connect to IGN line.
  13. I learned something new to how to remove camshaft....

The disconnected red wire was Water Temp Switch wire. After research, it's not MUST Have thing. Thanks ZedHead again!

I got help @ Hybrid Z. Basically, MSD 6AL does not work with fuel injection 280z. The timing of firing does not work well. After long search of root cause of my engine problem, finally, I found root causes. It's simple, but the problem was hidden.... I just forgot... Finally, engine runs!

It's been long time. Finally I got some spare time while Xmas holidays and I was working on ignition. My 280z is '75 none CA model. I can't get spark. I unplug spark plug and wire and leave it near strut mount top and turn on key to ignition position. The starter motor is clanking, but no spark. Where should I check? I have several modification on wiring. I removed SHUNT and directly connect the line Red/White and White line. I removed External Voltage regulator and install CS-144 Alternator. But I don't think this is related. I check fuse, all looks good. I replaced fuel pump and fuel pump is working fine. I try to connect MSD 6AL, too. (following instruction from here: http://www.zcar.com/forum/10-70-83-tech-discussion-forum/21909-msd-6al-ignition-77-280z.html) Red 12ga wire to Battery Positive Black 12ga wire to Battery Negative Orage 16ga wire to MSD Blaster 2 coil Positive Black 16ga wire to MSD Blaster 2 coil Negative Red 16ga wire to Black/White on ballast White 16ga wire to one of the terminal block wire that connected to distributor. I don't know this is right way to connect white wire.. But still no spark when I turn key to ignition position. This was wrong wire connection for the red 16ga wire. It should connect to left side Black/White wire instead. One wire was disconnected in engine room... I don't know where it was connected... Does anyone has a clue? Any help is appreciated! Regards, tamo3

Just update schematic based on Captain's starter relay addition using TOYOTA Corolla Relay&Fuse box. I can't figure out which pin is 85, 86 on TOYOTA's relay 90987. Does it matter?
  22. Have narrower tire like bicycle, you might archive 100km/l

It's kind of strange relay. There is resistance in relay.

It's been busy with kids. Looks like big relay is dimmer relay. http://www.rockauto.com/catalog/raframecatalog.php?carcode=1432910&parttype=3264 http://www.partsgeek.com/catalog/1998/toyota/corolla/body_electrical/dimmer_relay.html
